My fav veterinarian, leaning on a fence next to me, coffee in hand, suddenly jerking his head around to look at me: I hope my car gets fixed today, I can't live without one. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon at home. Inside the house. I got so bored. And you'd feel the same way! People like us, we can't be locked inside. We have to change locations every few hours or we'll go mad!
Me: Hah, absolutely! If there's no work for me to do I get bored. Bored. Rather than enjoying my free time, I get stressed about it. Insanity.
Him: Exactly! Besides, there's always something you know you should do. I can't even go see my horses! Because I don't have a car!
Me: I'm sure the mechanic will be able to fix it today. If not, you could drive me home and use mine for the rest of the day, how about that?
Him, stepping away from the fence and taking my hand: I do love you, d'you know that?
