Dry firing is an excellent way to hone your skills and build on your fundamentals without ammo. Things like sight picture, drawing from a holster and clearing your cover garment can all be practiced without a range. I recently picked up a @the_original_dryfiremag to better my dry fire sessions. Having the ability to have multiple trigger presses without manually cycling the slide has definitely bettered my practice. You can really track what that front sight or dot is doing during your trigger squeezes and you can really see when you are getting sloppy, lazy or just aren't pressing your trigger straight to the rear.
