But Oliver IS a romantic. He stole a god damn picture postcard and kept it on his wall for 20 years with his handwritten âcor cordiumâ love note on the back to one day give back to Elio. If thatâs not romantic, then smack me on the side of the head.
OMG, I KNOW. Itâs one of those things where if you collect all the clues dropped in the book and film, itâs unbearable, almost Brief Encounter levels of romanticism. Itâs that AndrĂ© Gregory quote: âBut another kind of love is to love hopelessly, to love someone you can never have, the awful sweetness of longing for the unattainable, that strange and blissful frustration.âÂ
Of course I quote this not thinking that the love between Oliver and Elio is a love they canât have just that Oliver doesnât think they can, for a very long time, so instead he puts that postcard up in his office, where he can look up and see it from his desk, every day. And itâs sweet and strange and blissfully frustrating to remember and hold on to.

For as much as these two talk, I think my favorite moments exist when you write their unspoken language. How they just understand each other without full, or any sentences. Itâs beautiful. And as always - I want more.
That is absolutely where Iâm at right now. Going back through this ENORMOUS chapter and figuring out which moments work better without dialogue--to show the strength of their understanding and regard.
I think that Andante and Rondo were so much about dialogue and their reconnecting via feelings and ideas, Finale has to stress the physical component of their relationship. Which totally makes it sound like itâs about taking a trip to bonetown. I mean, yeah, but not entirely that either. And Iâm going to stop before I start sounding like an earnest, pretentious idiot.
Thanks, caro.

Gahhhhhhhhhh. I love this. I love the idea of Oliver stealing every unbeknownst glance he can at Elio to see everything. Like a man dying of thirst trying to slowly drink his water as to not drown but as to also quench his thirst. Hot. Love it. Canât wait for the full installment.
This is from IV. Finale. Every time I start writing Oliver POV, Iâm surprised at what comes up. Itâs always way more romantic than I expect it to be. I know I should probably listen to Aciman and throw some Hemingway into his voice, but I donât wanna.

Literally just opened tumblr to see if you posted your Sunday Six yet and it did NOT disappoint!! Beautiful. So lovely. Obviously a point in the fic that Iâm going to devour, re-read, and luxuriate in because these boys are so hot and this is very sweet with a hint of melancholy (my ideal combination).
I love them.
Those sentences were from May. This thing has become longer than I expected it to. Both parts are so long now. Iâm freaking out. I feel like itâll never end.
PS I couldnât post anything from today but Iâll hook you up via DM, girl, âcause you the best.
