Carnotaurus sastrei
Argentina, Maastrichtian Age of the Late Cretaceous Period (La Colonia Formation)
Carnotaurus was a unusual abelisaurid theropod dinosaur from the last age of the dinosaur era. Tiny arms, powerful hind limbs, a relatively short snout and prominent brow horns make this predator quite distinctive.
While the tyrannosaurs were occupying the large carnivorous ecological roles in North America and Asia, the abelisaurids were evolving in convergent directions on the Gondwanan southern continents.
See a detailed skeletal diagram and read more about Carnotaurus at Scott Hartman's Skeletal Drawing page.
