“-- Are you coming to the party tonight?”

Working for Liam had become so normal, talking to him the easiest thing in the world. Noah was rather comfortable with his job, or well, apprentice ship - enough for him to gladly join the business party he had been invited to by his co-workers. 

    “Yeah, note the past tense.                            the fuck was that, anyway?      ‘Cause you might not want to hurt me, but I think your buddies       missed the memo, boss.”

He tries not to bristle at the smirk on Liam’s face. Hell, most of this is an act anyway; he shouldn’t really be getting bent out of shape. 

And yet...

Noah actually hates wasting his time - he wants to be busy and productive. He’s a workaholic, really, so he always tries to keep himself occupied with stuff that’s at least somewhat useful. You could probably say that is a form of ‘wasting time’, especially since he often tries to do it at night instead of sleeping / whenever he can’t sleep.

He hates everything to do with this man.

He knows it’s his own damn fault for getting as far into debt as he did in the first fucking place —it isn’t that he has any illusions about that. But it doesn’t mean he has to like the ways he’s been paying him back. Jack wasn’t a violent man by nature. He fought back when his personal safety was at risk, yes, but he would never intentionally harm someone. Not since he was a kid anyway, fighting to keep him and his sister safe. But that had been a long time ago.
