A new petition on Change.org is calling upon Disney to change the name of the Carnation Cafe so that it honors former chef Oscar Martinez.
Now THIS is a petition I could get behind (if it wasn’t on change.org where by signing I’d be also signing up for a TON of emails that I don’t want).
Oscar deserves “Disney Legend” status. He did for guest service at this Disneyland staple of a restaurant what Marc Davis did for Imagineering, what Ub Iwerks did for animation, what the Sherman brothers did for Disney music.
The man doesn’t just deserve to have the Carnation Cafe named after him (not erasing Carnation -- the proposed name is Oscar’s Carnation Cafe), but a Disney Legends Award and a window on Main Street.
