Merle Hodge photographed in her study at home in St Joseph. This was an outtake from a session done for @caribbeanbeatmag to accompany an insightful interview by @pleasureblog , currently online and for the first time in nearly a year, in print. (http://ow.ly/fTzq30rz6s3) Hodge was continuously bemused by the photography process, unfailingly cheerful and wry as we explored a house rich with markers in her life as a teacher, activist and writer. I felt kind of sad that this photo didn't make it into publication, with its rich tableau of books, artifacts and items offering a fingerprint of the range and diversity of her life and interests. The one that did appear from this slice of the session is a lively close up of her, an impish half smile and twinkling, curious eyes lighting up her face. #writer #lyndersaydigital #trinidad #westindies #author #stjoseph #study #trinidadandtobago #digitalphotography #photography #library #teacher #godox #canon #portrait #environmentalportrait #caribbean #caribbeanbeat #peepaltreepress (at St Joseph, Trinidad) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL75DfRlpYX/?igshid=14hyqwju6qul
