Cynara cardunculus grows wild in the Mediterranean where it was bred both for its edible leaf stems (Cardoon, whose yearnings for life and Springtime are shown here) and separately for its larger edible flower buds (Artichoke, not shown). For Christmas Eve dinner, @originaltriplechip and his mom boil bite-size chunks of stem, batter them with flour and beer, and finally deep-fry to perfection. #cardunculus #cynaracardunculus #cardoon #cardooninwinter #wintercardoon #cardoonleaflets (at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania)
