Metagate, Carcrashgate, Conformitygate, etc.
So as we've all seen by now, Noah Schnapp has been hinting on social media that something big was coming and we all thought it would be either Spiderman or Stranger Things related. And it was finally announced that he'll star in a play called Affluenza on a limited run in London. And it's all so metagate, I can't even.
So his Instagram story yesterday showed this image:
And I immediately thought of this from Tales from 85. I've stolen the image from @erikiara80 because I couldn't find one online.
Will hits the right side door while riding his bike and goes flying. An impact like that might crack the rear view mirror and the image from the Instagram story certainly looks like it has a bowl cut.
So come to find out, as officially announced today, Noah will star on the London stage in a play called Affluenza. The plot according to Variety:
So. Car crash. Based on the true life story of an affluent teen in Texas who killed 4 people in a drunk-driving accident.
But where does the play take place?
Oh the Hamptons! Makes sense if you really wanted to play up the affluence. And then, I'm like. Wait! Isn't Montauk a part of the Hamptons? Yep, it most definitely is.
Curiouser and curiouser. Now, I oniw this is just an AI thing but when I wanted to search for a screenshot from T85 of Will's accident I kept getting results like this.
No matter how I phrased "will byers" "crash" "tales from 85" I was constantly told it never happened.
So we have carcrashgate (I reblogged @youaremess earlier today talking about that). Want to bet that the actual location of the play's accident is Montauk, expanding metagate? We definitely also have a nod to conformity gate when we look at the color of Noah's sweater in the play's publicity shots. Noah looks adorable btw.
Any other gates I am missing?
