Anastasia and Ira had successfully snuck out of the gala. Ira's bowtie was choking him, and galas are not Anastasia's kind of party.

"So... was music something that you always wanted to do?" Ira asked, watching Anastasia take off her heels.

"Not-not really. Growing up with Scott, hockey was kind of a fixed variable in my life. Tried it when I was younger. Enjoyed it, but you know, when you're a kid, your interests in things bounce around."

Ira chuckles, "That's interesting. It was the opposite for me."

Anastasia looks at him in disbelief, "Really? All of the guys I know had hockey running through their veins. Practically in their DNA."

Ira runs his hand through his hair, "My father was a songwriter, mainly for commercials, but it made an impression on me. On my birthday,” his eyes glazed over. “they got me a drum set. I loved that thing. Once I went into the system, they told me it was pawned off. So, hockey was the next best thing, I guess.”

Anastasia frowns, “do you miss it?”

“Everyday,” Ira sniffs.

Anastasia smirks, “Well, if you ever feel like playing again, I’ll fly you out to New York. Show you my studio.”

Ira smiles, “I’d like that.”
