Hi! I'm sorry if I bother you... I just wonder: Do you know why captleto is gone? I'm very shock!! Was her decision or somebody else forced her to go? I saw a couple days ago that she posted some complete shows of 30stm, that could be the problem?
No idea. None. I checked it out Friday night and it seemed alive. Returned Saturday afternoon and shit was shut down.
Whether it was self-inflicted is another story.
Tumblr does not fuck around and they have the access to delete whatever posts someone may file against you. 3 warnings from them and they will deactivate your blog.
Captleto recently said they deleted a whole bunch of postsā¦
Was it by choice - or were the posts deleted without their approval?
A post from a week or so ago they were claiming they werenāt going anywhere. Soā¦.Iām thinking this deactivation was not intentional.
There were many anon warnings going out to Captleto advising that they lie-low and hold off on trying to break news - as so much attention was already on them at that point - and not the good attention. Once you realize not only is Dai (and therefore Jaredās closecrew) aware of you but then also reaching out to you for info on shit ā you know youāre treading on thin iceā¦
Hereās my honest feelings on Captleto (because now Iām getting shit for my post about their blog being shut down (which, please)):
Always a lovely source of all-things Jared, Mars, etc.
Never had an issue ever with Captleto - in fact, as I said, they were one of the first blogs to actually pay attention to me - and bless them for that.
I agree with much of what they had to say on things. Howevsā¦.
It was apparent, like much of what happens in any fandom, when fanboys and girls realize youāve got the goods and suddenly so much attentionĀ is focused on you and what you know on a certain subject, a person can respond in 1 of 3 ways:Ā
Ā - retreat
Ā - business as usual, ie the blog stays stable, posts are consistent with what they were a year ago
Ā - you buy into your sudden fandom-fame and posts begin to turn toward more salacious stories and rumors and gossip to keep the demand going and the gossip-hungry fandom happy.
It seems like at the start of LoveLust, whether thru an inside source or just really eager tipsters, Captletoās tone began to change. dramatically.
It became less about enjoying Jared, Mars, their projects, and more about being the breaking source for gossip, rumors, side-eye-worthy pics.
Maybe it wasnāt even spurred by Captleto but by the anons that were suddenly flooding Captletoās inbox, fanning the flames of Jaredās personal life and rumors going around the interwebs. but hereās the thing - you, as the tumblrer have every right to disregard an anon question if you feel itās not where you wanna take your blog. or you can answer it privately, if you feel the need to respond.Ā
I personally began to have a love/dislike relationship with the blog.The tone suddenly felt - I dunno - toxic in a way that was upsetting me. While there was a voyeuristic aspect that is liable to excite anyone interested in Jared or the band or their private lives, it also felt deliberately cruel in some ways. Like seeing police and ambulance lights on a stretch of road, inching toward and routed around a violent car wreck; you tell yourself to not look, to not revist Captleto after reading it 30mins previously, to keep driving slowly by till you feel youāre in a better place to continue. I felt at times it was documenting the implosion of a band and kind of too, a man. Things that were probably not at all dramatic were suddenly magnified and the sense around everything was one of almost out of control impending doom. Even when it was like a pic of Jared backstage. The anon implications that were being posted were just fueling a sense of animosity that i really canāt deal with.
I think ultimately, Captleto was playing a very dangerous game, and despite warnings from readers over postings or most-recently warnings against posting the full-concert videos (which, those were available on Youtube - so, really, while not the best things to be posting after unabashedly posting basically every spoiler/scandal surrounding Jared over the last few months, shouldnāt be held against Captleto. I almost feel the MARS crew should thank Captleto for featuring them so they could go after the source on Youtube - they were going to be seen and shared whether or not Captleto did it) they continued to forge ahead because it was undoubtedly exciting to be the blog people were turning to first and it is SO easy to get caught up in the fervor of fandoms. But that same intensity and passion and need to be the tumblr everyone is reblogging/faving can end up being the reason for a downfall too.
I do ultimately feel theyāll bounceback - under a new name - but theyāve lost a lot (hundreds of postings, thousands of subscribers) in going in that direction. I wonder if when they do come back, if things will read the sameā¦
Thereās a fine line between giving people what they want and having to tellĀ people what they want is sometimes too much.
