Cassowaries are flightless birds of the genus Casuarius, in the order Casuariiformes. They are classified as ratites, flightless birds without a keel on their sternum bones. They can run up to 50 km/h through dense forest and can jump up to 1.5 m. 

A large, crow-sized falcon, it has a blue-grey back, barred white underparts and a black head. As is typical for bird-eating raptors, peregrine falcons are sexually dimorphic, with females being considerably larger than males. Although its diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized birds, the peregrine will sometimes hunt small mammals, small reptiles, or even insects.

The female Rufous Hummingbird is slightly larger than the male. She has green, white, and some iridescent orange feathers in the centre of the throat, and a dark tail with white tips and a rufous base.

The little penguin (Eudyptula minor) is the smallest species of penguin which originates from New Zealand. It is commonly known as the fairy penguin, little blue penguin, or blue penguin, owing to its slate-blue plumage and is also known by its Māori name kororā. It is a marine neritic species that dives for food throughout the day and returns to burrows on the shore at dusk, making it the only nocturnal penguin species on land.

Cairngorms National Park (Scottish Gaelic: Pàirc Nàiseanta a' Mhonaidh Ruaidh) is a national park in northeast Scotland, established in 2003. It was the second of two national parks established by the Scottish Parliament, after Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, which was set up in 2002. The park covers the Cairngorms range of mountains, and surrounding hills. Already the largest national park in the United Kingdom, in 2010 it was expanded into Perth and Kinross.

The Gullet is a narrow channel between the eastern extremity of Adelaide Island and the west coast of Graham Land, separating Hansen Island and Day Island and connecting the heads of Hanusse Bay and Laubeuf Fjord. It was given its descriptive name in 1948.

This is a vigorous, deciduous shrub with thick, somewhat succulent grey-green rush-like shoots. The sparse leaves are of little importance to the plant, with much of the photosynthesis occurring in the green shoots (a water-conserving strategy in its dry climate). In late spring and summer shoots are covered in profuse fragrant yellow pea-like flowers 1 to 2 cm across. Spartium junceum has been widely introduced into other areas, and is regarded as a noxious invasive species in places with a Mediterranean climate such as California and Oregon, Hawaii, central Chile, southeastern Australia, the Western Cape in South Africa and the Canary Islands and Azores.

In 2018, the Rufous Hummingbird was uplisted from least concern to near threatened on the IUCN Red List, on the basis that due to its reliance on insect prey during the wintering season, it will be heavily affected by the global decline in insect populations due to pesticides and intensified agriculture. Due to climate change, many flowers that the rufous hummingbird feeds on during the breeding season have started blooming two weeks prior to the birds' arrival to their breeding locations, which may lead to rufous hummingbirds arriving too late to feed on them.
