Lars is absolutely thriving in his new environment and with his new friends. The off colors provided him with a group of friends he understood. 

Looking back Lars may be living out a childhood fantasy of his. He used to hang out with Rinaldo and be into more of the stuff that is considered nerdy before ditching his interest due to his image. Now out in space living with aliens he’s completely gotten into it.
