11. laying their hand on the otherās neck
You are what you eat, somehow the saying haunts him.
His touch his cold against her neck, where he can feel her blood, warm and oh so sweet, rushing. When he bites, she pushes, molds herself into him. As in a coffin or on a plate, he doesn't know yet.
If you are what you eat, then what does it make him ?

Ooooo let's do 16. kissing knuckles for your traveler and Cal!
thanks for encouraging me to write more A6, @captainsaku! Decided to keep it short and simple (*eyes the 20 other prompt wips*).
authorās note: this is more raynie than cal, but this is my first time writing more than a few sentences for an A6 pairing, so i hope you enjoy!
copyright: all characters, except my oc traveler, are owned by wanderlust games (@andromeda-six).
series/pairing: andromeda six ā calderon lynch x f!traveler (raynie pegāasi)
rating/warnings: k+; none
word count: ~500 words
based on/prompt: physical affection prompts // 16. kissing knuckles
summary: raynie is nervous and cal calms her down.
raynie peeked out from where she was waiting behind a curtain backstage. her eyes widened at the sheer size of the crowd and she quickly turned away, closing her eyes and trying to push away the fluttering in her stomach.
after everything the crew did, after everything she went through, they were finally here. at this long-awaited moment where she would address goldis for the first time since her family was killed.
she wiped her sweaty hands down the side of her dress, hoping it didnāt stain.
how did nerissa manage to do this so easily?
how could she think she could do this at all?
why would she even want to do this?
āhey stowaway.ā
raynie lifted her head and looked straight into the soft blue of calās eyes, his large build creating a shadow over her smaller one.
āyou can do this,ā he said.
searched his face for any signs of sarcasm or teasing, but she knew she wouldnāt find any, not like she would have if it were damon in his place.
āhow do you know? i donāt know how to be a ruler, i was barely let out of the palace and i have no experience.ā
raynie covered her face with her hands, trying to take deep breaths and keep the onslaught of panicked tears at bay.
cal gently pried her hands off her face, holding them in his large ones.
āi know because iāve seen what youāre capable of first-hand. youāre reckless and careless with your safety sometimes,ā he said, a hint of fear glinting in his gaze. ābut youāre brave and resourceful.ā
she dropped her gaze, feeling a flush begin to creep up her neck and color her cheeks.
he raised her hand to his lips, forcing her to draw her gaze back up to meet his.
ābut most of all,ā he murmured against her knuckles. āyou care about others. itās why i fell in love with you.ā
his lips brushed against her knuckles, the featherlight touch sending goosebumps up her arms. cal released her hand and gave her a soft smile before turning her around so she was facing the stage.
she looked back once as he nudged her forward, catching his gaze that seemed to hold a million promises between them. he bowed before making his exit, and a renewed sense of determination fueled her steps.

congratulations!!!!!
Thank you guy! You're awesome. I was so excited. I really wanted it because it's a chance to be involved with district-wide curriculum writing and decisions. I kind of can't believe it. I didn't figure they would choose me.
Three-year teacher with a non-traditional background.
I was in a State Department of Ed meeting and got to listen to a group of teachers complain about the existence of people like me. So, to have been allowed this chance really kind of makes me even more about this opportunity.
37. Defy (850 words). In which Adiranās older brother is recovering in the palace from a bad injury, and his visit to his room took a bitter, resentful turn.
āWhat? You think you can just show up half-dead, and that somehow gives you the right to tell me what to do? Who the fuck do you think you are?ā
āIām your brother, Adiran.ā Even with his torso and leg thickly bandaged, Lorvain still struggled to sit higher in the bed. Breathing gingerly, he tried to speak through gritted teeth, his brow damp with sweat. āIf you... if you would just listen to meāā
Any hope of that was dashed when Adiran barked a dry, bitter laugh. āOh, so now you want to act like my brother? When youāre bed-bound with nothing better to do?ā Still laughing humourlessly, he paced the length of the room, his footsteps a low counterpoint to the sharpness of his words. He wielded each one like a weapon - hurled them across the space between them. āYouāre not trying to help me, so just drop the act. Iām not backing out of the tournament.ā
His brotherās dark hair fell limp to either side of his face, its ragged ends barely brushing the tops of his shoulders. He was gaunt. Unusually pale. Some part of Adiran knew he shouldnāt be doing this. Not right now. But damn it, Lorvain gave up the right to tell him what to do a long time ago. Back when he had the chance to care. āAdiran, I am trying to help you,ā Lorvain argued weakly. Despite Adiranās derisive snort, he pressed on. āI know that tournament. The Red Fury. I fought in it when I was near your age. People die. All the time. And Crosus? Divider, if heā āa cough, sharp and short, wracked his frame, earning a second winceā āi-if Iād had to face a beast like that? I donāt... I couldnāt have...ā Out of breath, Lorvain sank back down, shaking his head slowly. For a moment, standing in that sickly-smelling room, Adiran felt a twist of fear. A twist of truth, like a dagger in his gut, because Lorvain had always been the better duelist.
But it only lasted a moment.
āNo.ā He forced himself to snap out of it, nails biting crescents into his palms. āNo. You donāt get to take this from me. None of you do.ā He turned to glare daggers at his brother. āThis is mine. Iāve worked for it. Iāve bled for it.ā He ignored the way Lorvain cringed at that. āAnd you know what? Iāll win. Iāll win the whole damn thing while you watch from the sidelines with that fucking hole in your leg. Iāll defy you, and anyone who thinks I canāt do it!ā
It took until the end of his speech for Adrian to realise he was shouting, his voice echoing against the heavy stone walls. Breathing hard, his mouth suddenly dry as sand, it took everything he had not to storm out of the room and leave his brother to wallow in his own self-pity. In that self-serving concern of his that was just another mask for his guilt. No - he didnāt get to lie there and feel better about himself just because heād caught the wrong end of a blade. Not if Adiran had a say in it.
āYou... You really think I donāt want you to succeed.ā To Lorvainās credit, the statement lacked his usual incredulity; that doe-eyed shock when someone in their damn kingdom didnāt love him just for breathing. āAdiran, I know I havenāt been... I havenāt been what you needed me to be. But Iāve always been on your side.ā When Adiran didnāt dignify his bullshit with a response, Lorvain tried to move again, then cried out, his face knotting in pain. āG-Gods!ā
At first, Adiran assumed it was just a convenient trick to get out of making a proper apology. But when Lorvain, teeth clenched, squeezed his eyes shut and arched against the bed, he knew something was actually wrong. In the midst of the spasm, Adiran almost went to him. He was surprised, really, when the urge arrived like a whip-crack out of nowhere. But he stopped himself mid-step. Forced himself to set his jaw and turn away until his brotherās rapid breathing began to even out again. No. He didnāt owe Lorvain anything. In fact, he planned to say exactly what Lorvain said to him, three years ago. Back when heād actually needed him.
āYou brought this on yourself.ā Despite being exhausted from days of agony, Adiran still saw something in Lorvain tighten. Shiver. Break at his words. It should have felt good. Maybe even just. But instead, Adiran just felt off-balance and anxious, like the ground around him had suddenly dropped away, leaving him alone with nowhere to run. The feeling was so intense that he found himself speaking before he had a chance to stop himself. āJust... stay still. Iāll get the physicker.ā
āA-Adiran...ā His name was barely discernible, weak and gritted out from between Lorvainās clenched teeth.Ā āPlease... wait...ā
With a hollow feeling in his chest - one that he tried to convince himself was satisfaction instead of shame - Adiran ignored his brotherās plea and walked away.
Yellow: Whatās a common writing tip that you mostly ignore?
Oooh hmm. I've read a lot of writing tips and I probably ignore mostly all of them even though I obviously shouldn't because I'm not very effective as it is. I'm not a very organized person haha! Pretty much any writing tip designed to make you more productive is one I ignore (unless it's Nanowrimo which, let's be honest, is the only time I get actual substantial amounts of writing done. I can't be trusted unless I have a deadline.)
Purple: Which of your characters would become your sworn enemy?
I feel like this question is difficult to answer because a lot of it depends on context. Who am I in relation to these people? What events would transpire between us to shape our opinions of each other? I don't feel like any of them are necessarily people I would hate in any given context, and you'd have to really wrong me for me to consider you a 'sworn enemy'. (And even then, I try to be the kind of person who allows growth and I believe in giving people a path back to redeem themselves. Most people will never ever take that path, but in my heart, it's there for them.)
But there are definitely situations that could make it difficult for me to like them. Obviously, Nikolai rubs people the wrong way with reckless abandon and I would probably be no exception. Not really 'sworn enemy' material, though, probably I would just consider him an annoyance.
Cailean has the potential to make me feel like he's untrustworthy in some way that's more insidious than Nikolai, so if I somehow got that impression from him, he would make me extremely unsettled. Not enemy material, but unsettling. (Feeling like I am being lied to or misled is probably the biggest dealbreaker for me.)
Elsie, of course, is a bit of a gossip and that always has the potential for misunderstandings and hurt feelings, so it would probably depend on context. She's also very "fun" in a way that the others aren't, so that would probably counterbalance her flaws in a lot of contexts.
Deka-- I could probably never be enemies with Deka tbh.
Vivietta might be the most likely-- her antagonistic and dismissive demeanor would make me feel angry and defensive, and her delightful aesthetic would make me feel jealous and threatened and would fuel my pettiness.
So, short answer: Vivietta, and it would be completely unfounded.

#ok but like#as a non-American#I continue to have no idea what biscuits and gravy entail#it sounds foul in my head
I hope this helps! :D in America, biscuits are bread thatās usually served with savory dishes. Biscuits and Gravy are usually biscuits with a white gravy and the gravy usually has bits of sausage in it. Itās a savory food and very yummy.
