Follow up: how do you get metal bits to shine like that? I’ve been struggling recently when I try to draw metal. It keeps coming out kinda...flat?

Lady Deanna Vallois, wife of Ser Alain Vallois, Chevalier and Lord of Ylenn Basin, and daughter of the Arl of Edgehall, Fergus Lendon was born Deanna Lendon, the daughter of the Arl of Edgehall, Fergus Lendon, though she was disowned when she ran off with Lendon’s Orlesian ward Alain. She was barely 15 years old and head over heels in love. Alain and Dani were married in a tiny chantry on the Orlesian side of the Frostbacks. Dani hoped for reconciliation, if not with her father then with her older brother, Fergus (named after their father). But 3 years later the Fifth Blight came and she lost any chance when her brother was killed in the fight and her father soon after (of ill health).

Alain and Dani’s romance and flight from Ferelden and subsequent liberation of Alain’s families lands from it’s occupiers became the subject of a very flowery romantic ballad. It had middling success in Orlais and Ferelden but, oddly enough, was wildly popular in the Free Marches and Antiva.

Dani lived at the Orlesian Court for several years while Alain completed his Chevalier training. She made very few friends and was quite happy to move back to Alain’s lands once his training was over.

She has three sons, Fergus, Mathieux, and Hugo. Her eldest son Fergus (named for her dead brother), and second son Mathieux was born at the Orlesian Court. Hugo, her youngest, was born on their lands. He was barely a year old at the outbreak of the Orlesian Civil War.

Upon news of her husbands death, and their home’s proximity to the fighting leads her to flee with her three sons back to Ferelden, only to be swept up in the fighting that breaks out in the Hinterlands.
