oh please ma'am may we please have 1 more itty bitty excerpt of the thorki sailor au? or any excerpt šš we thirst š„µ
Iām afraid I have only a little bit of the sailor au to share and itās angsty as hell, but if youāve known me for more than 30 seconds youāll know that I donāt linger too long on the sad stuff without a happy payoff later on. For every tear I squeeze from you good folks I promise there will be a smile to make up for it š
So hereās a snippet from the next part of the Sailor AU (this scene immediately follows Lokiās flashback, which can be read here). I hope this quenches your thirst (for now)! š¦
āIāve always liked your smile.ā
Thorās voice startles Loki out of his reverie, causing the faint grin on Lokiās lips to fade. He takes his seat beside the bed once more and passes the wooden mug, its contents replenished, into Lokiās hands.
āI think I liked it because it was so rare,ā he continues, bending to unfasten the heavy knot holding Lokiās tail to the bedframe. āYour genuine smile, I mean. The one you rarely show to anyone.ā
āRarely does anyone genuinely touch me,ā Loki retorts, but his voice is frail and his anger too cool to burn anymore.Ā
Thor chuckles, working the ropes free with extra care so they donāt rub the skin of Lokiās tail. āRarely do you allow anyone close enough to touch you. But let us not fight anymore, Loki. Iām weary of our bickering, and Iām sure you are, too. I would like our last day together to be one that I will look back upon with nothing but fondness.ā
āLast day? You mean this day?ā The ropes binding Lokiās tail slide away at last but heās too stunned to move. āWell, this is all rather sudden, isnāt it? Was that part of your plan? Find me and get me to release you from your well-deserved curse, and then say goodbye forever? Do I really mean so little to you?ā
Thor lifts his head and pins Loki down with his gentle gaze. āLoki, you meant the world to me. I loved you. I thought we would live side by side forever. Perhaps even together.ā
His use of past tense does not escape Lokiās notice.Ā
āBut you were right,ā Thor continues. āWe live in two separate worlds. Our paths can never align. You are you and I am me, and if this is as far as we were meant to travel together, then⦠I will find a way to be content with those memories.ā
A lump forms in Lokiās throat and his eyes grow shiny with moisture. He grips his mug tightly in both hands and studies the marks on Thorās left forearm. Tooth marks. Punctures. Eighteen-year-old scars, the skin now shiny and hairless and pink.
āIt was just a foolish dream, Thor,ā Loki murmurs.
āWas it really?āĀ
A brief silence falls. The ship creaks and rocks rhythmically around them.
āItās still there, you know. BilskĆrnir, in the bay of Thrudvang. Waiting to be finished.ā Thorās voice is soft and hollow. He leans his elbows on his knees and clasps his big hands together. āI suppose I can turn it into a summer lodge. I havenāt been back to it since⦠in over a year.ā
Loki presses his lips into a tight line and glares at the tea in his mug. Tears hang thickly on the ends of his eyelashes.
BilskĆrnir. That was to be their home. A gift built by the groom for his bride, as was the custom among Thorās people. A magnificent hall laid over both land and water, a place where the fish and the bird could live together in harmony. Loki had thought Thor was joking at first. But then Thor had taken him there, and Loki saw it with his own two eyes. He was serious. His devotion, his love, his intentions, his proposal. All of it was real.
And it had shaken him.
The last time they had been there was fourteen months ago. Loki doesnāt remember much. Only that he hadnāt wanted to be there because it meant giving an answer to Thorās questions, and he didnāt know what to say. So he had played along until he couldnāt, and when, after drinking and lounging beneath the stars, Thor pressed his manhood needfully against Lokiās tail, that had been it. Loki could feel the trap, the net of bondage, encircling him once more, the same reason he had abandoned his own dying, diminished people, and he had pushed Thor away with the help of a small dagger.
I am not your whore, Odinson! Stop trying to buy me!
Loki, what-? I neverārgh!āIām not trying toā
Loki blinks and squeezes his eyes shut. His tears disperse into his eyelashes. āItās your house. Do what you want with it.ā
