I just truly cannot get over the fact that I spent my birthday in 2019 reading Sigmund Freud so I could more effectively write an essay about Spring Awakening and then on a day in that same week in 2026 I went to the Freud Museum in Vienna then saw a (partially German!) production of Spring Awakening (at a full on opera house). If you told me back then that I would make that happen in my future I would have lost my fucking mind.
AND the next day I went looking for one of the paintings Hanschen mentions in the play version of the Desdemonalogue because I'd seen that it was at one of the art museums there (and sadly couldn't find it, but did see multiple other paintings by at least three of the artists he mentions, and several other things I think he would have liked)?! AND I was constantly surrounded by stuff about the Habsburgs (about whom Moritz claims to have been assigned an essay) and the Romans (connection to Aeneas and thus All That's Known) and saw a reference to Frank Wedekind in an exhibition at the National Library?! AND I got to experience all this at the same time as the literal awakening of spring?! Unreal.
