Hi Amy! Thanks for sending an assumption and yes, you’re right!

I find that this type of socialisation suits me really well because I feel like I have been able to step into this space without judgement. It also really helps that I know that I am engaging with people who love something that I do. It’s just a natural way to connect people - finding common ground - and I do that in real life too but with online fandoms, it’s just like you’re handing that right away.

As someone with a bit of social anxiety, it’s much easier for me to engage with people online (even if some people on here are so flipping cool and talented that I can still feel a little intimidated). In the real world, I mostly don’t know what I’m getting myself into - we won’t have an easy to locate common ground. It’s also draining in a different way because if I become too people exhausted while socialising, I can just close the app and take a step back if it’s online but if it’s out in the world removing myself might not be as easy.
