In Which Megan Is Problematic
So I heard about the #NoJusticeNoPride protest and wanted to express my opinion. This is like 50% my opinion and 50% misplaced rage. I support the Black Lives Matter movement 100%. I've been marching with them for two years now (and would have been for longer if I was able to). I know that a lot of hate is flying towards white gays right now and I definitely think a lot of it is earned. We do a lot of shit that negatively affects others, although, from what I can tell, we are working on calling each other out and getting better, especially younger generations. However, some of the language that I have heard has sounded familiar. Some of the shit that's been said sounds like shit my mother says about the gays. I know I'm being over dramatic, but the first time I went to a Pride event, a little over a year ago, I started crying because I finally found a place that felt like I belonged. It doesn't feel like that anymore. I get the reason for BLM and I support them completely; 364 days a year, I am there and ready to go. Can Pride please stay somewhere that we can be united? At the very least, for the kids who are there having their first Pride?
