SELF DISCLOSURE: I think it was the summer going in to my last year of undergrad; when I met my Dad for lunch. We had some laughs and then we talked about what my plans were going to be post grad. He mentioned the thought of me obtaining my masters degree and how the sky was the limit. At the time, the thought seemed so foreign to me. So many questions raced through my mind--how would I fund it? What would I study? What school would I go to? I was just trying to finish my B.A (-_-). I realize now that Daddy planted a seed. Parents have a pretty unique way of doing these things. (ha!) This picture was taken 7 years ago; right before I walked across the stage and received my M.S. degree in Behavioral Studies. To me, its more than a piece of paper, credentials, hard work, perseverance, debt, long nights, missing social events, tears, etc. It's the drive, it's not giving up, its's losing a parent, it's having to take care of a parent while working FT, it's going to school FT, it's keeping house, it's not feeling worthy, it's wanting to give up, it's receiving hurtful comments from "close loved ones"--processing them and moving on; realizing it was a reflection of how they felt about themselves. To anyone wanting to give up, this it to encourage you to keep going. Even when you feel like you can't. One moment, one day at a time. Nothing good or bad lasts forever. I am a LIVING TESTIMONY of this!
