Insecurities? all of them From a physical standpoint i think Riko is insecure about his height - especially with TSC repeating again and again how important height is to an exy player. Riko is somewhere between 5'3 to 5'5 - standing on the same line as Kevin who is at least 6'. I've always liked to think that Tetsuji and ichirou are a fair bit taller than him too, that his mother was short and he takes after her. But he doesn't know that, because all he knows is that he is at a disadvantage due to his height and has to work through it. I think he would rely more on speed - which is why i draw him slimmer, too much bulk slows him down. shorter, quicker, able to move through gaps others cant. he'd hate neil for being the same height but faster and everything he's been aiming to be. I think thats part of why he forces him back into defence. He's also incredibly insecure about his dynamic with Kevin. He knows deep down that Kevin is better than him at Exy. (and better than him at academics, and dealing with people, and controlling his emotions, and many little things that dont matter as much as the exy) He knows the tattoos are wrong, and he knows Kevin is holding himself back. Riko is nothing if he's not the best, if he's not perfect, and all of this spills out as violence. Lashing out at Kevin for being better, lashing out at others to remind himself he's better than them. Riko isn't perfect. Nobody is. He can't stand it. Ofc his insecurities are exy based because theres nothing else in his life.

Do Not Go Easy Into theNight

When Riko looked into his brother’s eyes for the first time, he knew he had only precious seconds to live. With a single swing of a racquet, Riko’s entire future had been ripped from him. He’d destroyed Kevin’s hand, and Kevin had recovered partially out of spite, and partially because Kevin couldn't help it. He was Kevin Day after all, and Kevin Day was nothing without Exy. However, Riko’s entire arm was in hundreds of pieces. Riko knew that, with enough time and physical therapy, there was a sliver of a chance that he’d be able to play again. But he’d be at the sport’s retirement age by the time he'd be able to play on the same level as before. In short, he was worthless. And a worthless Moriyama didn't have long to live.  Even knowing that his story would end at any second, he couldn't help but ride a wave of naïve, childlike hope that gripped his throat tight and inspired the ghosts of tears to well up along his eyelashes as his brother reached out and cupped his face. He saw features of his brother’s face that they shared but that his uncle lacked; features that must have come from their mother, then. That woman who, in another life, might have protected him from the life he’d been forced into. The woman who, in this life, had left him as soon as he’d left her womb. Hell, maybe his birth had killed her. After all, that would have been rather poetic. Perhaps she’d been killed just like this─perhaps by one of his grandparents. Perhaps by Kengo Moriyama himself. “Ichirou,” he said, the name escaping his lips without his permission.  “Riko,” his brother said, and Riko barely registered the hostility in his tone, or the downward curl of his brother's lips. “You are a disgrace to this family.”

Riko knew this already. He'd known it for years; that if he ever wanted to be valued by anyone else, that it would have to be through the exhibition of his skills. The only power that his last name would eventually give him would be the value he made out of it. Yet that very name, which he had turned into a household name because of his ability, his resilience, and his endurance, would be the very reason that his life would begin.

"Your life will rest in the Moreau boy's hands from here on," Ichirou said, his voice as smooth and chill as ice. "A show of good faith."

Imo that's the one that impacted her the most since she spent months(years?) practicing and analysing his fighting style because she knew if she didn't beat him she wouldn't make it through the fight. The stakes were high and she had a strong motivation, it makes sense that she would think of that years after it happened. But there is no way in hell that's the only murder she committed.

The thing is back then, she needed to make sure that threats won't resurface, and the best way to do so was by killing them, because jail can tie them down for only so long. If anyone was dangerous enough to pose a threat to her, she would ofc prefer to form some sort of allyship with them (i mean she joined the bloodhounds, who iirc, had the majority of territory in detroit). But she couldn't spare rival gang members the luxury of allyship, so i'm sure many of them were victims of natalie's crimes.

Perseus “Percy” Antonio Jackson has always been different. Aside from being the son of the god of the sea, or having saved the world twice, he was always different. His ADHD and Dyslexia set him apart from his peers, as did having his dad as his English teacher. Well step-dad technically. Paul Blofis wasn’t the man that Percy’s mom, Sally Blofis, was with when Percy came into the picture, however he was the man that has been  in his life for as long as he could remember. Not to mention that Percy grew up in a semi mixed faith household. His mom, being a demigod herself, taught Percy all about how the Greek gods functioned and they had an altar to Poseidon. Paul was jewish and while he never meant to convert Sally, she learned about Paul’s faith she made the steps into converting and she made the push into raising Percy as Jewish. Then there is Percy’s guideparent — the person who would take care of Percy if anything happened to Paul and Sally — Coach David Wymack of the Palmetto Foxes. It led to Percy always sporting Fox gear in school which always had kids turning their heads and teasing Percy—most of which were wearing Bearcats gear. He was a bright orange dot in a sea of green during the Exy season.

Truthfully Percy didn’t care much about Exy growing up. He knew that his "Uncle David'' and Paul learned Exy while they were in college together and were taught by Kayliegh Day. He knew that when David visited from South Carolina Paul was going to take him and Percy to the community Exy court and play a bastard version of Exy. David acting as a goalie and Paul and Percy being backlier/stickers. The first time Percy showed any interest in playing “true” exy was when he started his first year at Merriweather College Prep. Paul was the one to encourage him to sign up for the sport and that was where Percy had first met Tyson. Percy fell hard for the sport and Paul couldn’t help but feel excited that Percy was into it.

"And how do you know that, Hemmick?" Neil said, keeping his voice calm even as he wrapped his free arm around his waist, one of the tell-tale signs of nervousness that he always displayed when he felt he was backed into a corner. Andrew didn't think Neil was aware that he was doing it, actually.

"It's called the internet, idiot!" Nicky said. "There's only one place you two could have gone to, and it's not just some tourist trap. It's a place for people who are eloping."

Neil passed the phone back to Andrew, who begrudgingly let it fall back into his hand. Andrew zoned out Nicky's nagging as Neil turned as if to head towards the shower. He reached out and caught Neil's shirt before he could get very far, instead tugging Neil closer to him. Neil's piercing eyes scanned Andrew's features, finding amusement in something that he found there, and folded his arms around Andrew's shoulders. Andrew also knew that Neil could feel his accelerated pulse through his shirt, or take note of how Andrew's gaze was glued to Neil's lips, watching as they curled into that infuriating smirk of his.

But of course, when Neil shifted to lean in, it broke enough of the spell to let Nicky's voice invade his consciousness again. "—Drew? Andrew? You two had better not be fucking right now. In case you forgot, I need you to pick me up from the airport. Now."

Andrew clenched the phone a little tighter as he was distracted from the man in front of him. "Which exit?"

"Any. Just call me when you're here."

Andrew hummed his acknowledgement and hung up.
