The beginning
Well sort of. This is actually about 4 years into ownership of this little gem. Our friend had it in her backyard for 4 years prior to that. When they moved we were lucky enough to tow it to our house instead with the promise that we would restore it to a better glory. Putting that glory on pause we decided to just use it. The week after we picked it up actually. With some freshly packed bearings and some new shoes (radials because better than bias ply) we drove 14 hours to Donner Pass California. That trip would be made one more time before the restore started. Other than the two trips to Cali this trailer was pulled gently along to Southern Utah, Yellowstone, the Uintas and even the Tesla showroom parking lot to sleep overnight and be first in line to reserve the Model 3! Don’t be too excited, we cancelled our reservation after some budgeting.Â
Which brings us to the first post on the ‘ol Instagram. That was the day everything came off and we realized just how close to ripping apart on the highway this little trailer was.
Taking it apart took some tender care to keep the paneling in tact as most will be re-used. We also kept some of the old plywood for a reference. This was a fun day to say the least and as most people are with projects, we had a very ambitious time line to completion.Â
