Leslie Vernon
You knew better than anyone that Leslie had been a more passionate person than you were used to, he was eager to learn and take what heâd learned to apply it to his work. It was something he threw himself into and sometimes that meant he had become so focused that things around him didnât register right away.
You were more than okay with this setup he had, you had both established your feelings about it and you understood to a point, but you found it best to stay out of his affairs, it helped you separate everything that it came with Leslie being a slasher. Though it didnât bother you so much with the killings, it kind of bothered you how distant and far off he seemed to be whenever he came back around. His visits were brief to the point you figured that moving in with him would help more so it wasnât so out of the way.
Turns out it helped a little, but there was a huge breakthrough for him while he was in his scouting phase and he seemed generally excited by finding his perfect final girl. You were happy for him and celebrated, though you did end up wondering what would happen if things went south, but you pulled yourself from the shiver-inducing thought and congratulated him once again.
But as days passed, you grew more and more worried, watching the news talk about the upcoming anniversary of the Vernonâs deaths, it was a lot to handle for you, so all you wanted to do was communicate your worries. You didnât mean to bother him as soon as he walked through the door.
âLes, Iâm worried that youâre getting into something that you canât come back from and I just-â
âHey,â his voice was firm and you stiffened, ânot right now, okay? Iâm a little busy. I gotta get to Eugene before he takes off.â
You stand there and bite your bottom lip, screaming at yourself not to cry, you CANNOT cry, not in front of him. Leslie didnât take immediate notice of your stunned silence, but when he did, his expression dropped and he glided to your side. âShit, babe, no Iâm sorry, you know I didnât mean to sound so- ugh, Iâm sorry.â Heâd pull you into his grip and wouldnât let go until you told him you were fine. He didnât want to leave with you being upset, he hated it and forgot that sometimes his voice could be so firm, he didnât mean it. Leslie never meant it.
Heâd pull away with both hands on your shoulders, looking at you with a soft face. âYou know youâre my world, right? You know that, I could never be mad at you.â Heâd once again pull you into a hug and nuzzle against the side of your face, whispering that he could sound like an asshole sometimes, but you were his world and you of all people were the one who stood here and supported him. He canceled his meeting with Eugene to stay back and make sure you were back to feeling okay again, which was always a wonderful feeling.
Leslie was passionate and headstrong, but he also had a good sense of your emotions and felt awful when he was disregarding how you felt because of his work. You kept him grounded.
Candyman/ Daniel
He was a whispered rumor on the corners of the streets, he came to be because they believed, because YOU believed. He usually kills those that doubt his existence in order to keep his name alive, but when you called upon him and he sensed the heart of a true believer, he didnât know quite what to make of you. He was entranced for sure, and you were one of the sweetest souls to grace his presence in such a long time, his true muse.
Daniel, as you now knew him by, had stuck around you since he was first âsummonedâ, just appearing and reappearing at will around your home. He startled you for the first few times he had decided to visit, and he did get amusement out of your reactions. But he had noticed that most days you were drawn into yourself and quiet, which he had found to be rather normal behavior from you. He thought nothing of it, though when in those rare moments you truly smiled, it caught him off guard and stirred something deep and hidden within him, something so human.
He had been gentle from the beginning and had always spoken to you as if he had the patience of a saint, so when his voice would raise, it would throw you off and you would internally panic, so you had to separate yourself from the room before your emotions got the better of you. When he had been pulled away from you due to the shameful non-believers who slandered his name, his reputation, he would grow irate and would feel like a shadow of his former self, all of that hatred and fear and despair bubbling back up to the surface. His voice raised as he belted out his frustration, not at you, but near you, and you didnât handle it well.
Your body seized and you sat there on the sofa, hugging your knees to your chest as you buried your head in your hands as you thought of anything but the yelling, the tears threatening to escape as you sit there and attempt to drown everything out. Heâs completely unaware of this though, he hadnât risen his voice in front of you before, this was new, it was terrifying.
Daniel appears what feels like moments later as he looks around, confused, not seeing you anywhere until his eyes land on a form on the sofa. He kneels down to reach you and placed his non-hook hand on your shoulder, his voice is soft again. You perk your head up, your eyes glassy and your cheeks streaked with tears. His eyes widen at the sight, seeing you so fragile, so scared, it hurt him. He takes you in his arms and just wraps you with his scent, his ghostly warmth, and it slowly soothes you back into comfort.
He wonât speak right away, allowing you to calm on your own terms, but once you begin to squirm in his grasp, he releases and looks at you, offering the kindest smile. âWhatâs troubling you, sweet one? Did I upset you with my tone? I swear, I didnât mean to, you know this, donât you?â All you can do is nod your head sleepily, wanting nothing more than to be cradled against him and just allow yourself to melt against his touch, to forget the feeling of fear, and just live in this moment with him.
After some time, you pull away and tell him that you understand, it just sets something off that you canât control and itâs a natural reaction. âOh, sweet one, never apologize for your emotions, I should be the one begging you for forgiveness.â Of course, how could you resist that charm when he was so incredibly sweet to you? You couldnât help but smile and rest your forehead against his. âDonât worry, thereâs no need to beg,â you replied playfully through your tears.
Herbert West
Herbert was one to usually, if not always, to be oblivious to others around the house let alone someone else being in the room with him. You being a bit more distant wouldnât even set anything off in him to think there was something about you that needed tending to, but there were those rare moments you would both be in the same room and he would be a completely different person; softer, more open, and just a tad bit more vulnerable.
His lab work in the basement was and always will be a priority to him, and you knew this going into this odd sort of relationship with him, it didnât bother you in the slightest. Sometimes if he wasnât focused so hard on something, heâd notice you down in the lab and watching him intently, his hands at work while you either watched or just read a book, he found it rather endearing. He grew used to your presence being there when he came to his senses, but most times he was too concentrated on the task at hand that he forgot you were there.
Herbert loses his cool rather often, thatâs been known to everyone who worked with or near him, he wasnât the calmest person in the room, but he thought rationally and he was incredibly intelligent and devoted. Though that devotion came with its ups and downs, including some of his experiments tanking and not coming to fruition. This frustrated him greatly, so much to the point heâd slam his fists down onto the table and yell.
The first time that happened was a time you would never forget only because it was the most scared youâd ever been in your life. Something went wrong and Herbertâs reagent didnât have the effect he wanted it to, things went wrong and nothing had been going right for him that day, he was so frustrated that he had a terrible outburst with you in the room. He tried to control himself when you were in the room but today, it was one of those times his mind escaped him, he wasnât aware of everything in the room, he only saw red.
When Herbert came to and calmed down, all he saw was you hidden in the corner of the lab, your body shaking from the stifled sobs, and all he could do was stand there, frozen. He felt foolish, idiotic, for letting himself become so enraged. How could he lose himself in front of you? When he finally felt it necessary to step closer, the pain that stabbed him in the stomach when you flinched was too overpowering. Herbert fell to his knees before you, his expression broken as you peeked up to look at him.
âI- Iâm, God, Iâm sorryâŚâ He couldnât find it within himself to grovel, that wasnât who he was, but to see your eyes with terror in them as you looked into his, it hurt more than anything he had endured. âI didnât mean to frighten you, I can understand if you donât wanna be here- I mean, I donât know⌠Ugh, dammit.â He was frustrated with himself more than anything, but what pulled him back was your cold, gentle hand sliding into his, squeezing it lightly. He looked back at you and he saw that smile, a small one pulling itself from the corners of your lips, all for him.
âPlease,â was all he said, and you knew. You knew he felt guilt as he looked at you, but your hand squeezed again, immediately telling him youâd be alright. That was one of the beautiful things about your relationship: you both somehow just felt one another, you didnât need to verbalize your feelings, you just knew.
