( random headcanon time! give us an idea of sorey's nightly rituals. does he have to do certain things in a certain order to feel at home or is he flexible enough to go without? does he dedicate time to particular tasks? does he fall asleep quickly or slowly, and does he sleep solidly? what does he dream about, if he dreams? )
x. outofchara ; soreyās nightly rituals, this is such a phenomenal thought to consider. i donāt imagine itās anything ceremonious or substantial. usually, he doesnāt sleep with the shepherdās mantle on his person when staying at an inn lest he get all tangled up in sleep. thereās official artwork & in-game scenarios where he is sleeping in the mantle, so it isnāt concrete that he removes it. however, when he does, heās careful to treat it with care by draping it over the back of a chair or folding it up neatly at one of the bedside tables.
after all, the mantle is a gift from a dear friend.also a symbol of his great responsibility: the shepherd.
there are several occasions that heāll stay awake just to read over the celestial record, likely to match up what heās witnessed for himself in the midst of his journey with what heās read time & again since childhood. especially now that heās following in similar footsteps, knowing also that the record was written by a fellow shepherd!
itās exciting to seek out all of those nuances and correlations between whatās been recorded & what actually exists. his favorites are distinctly marked, there are loose leaf papers with notes that heās taken to elaborate further on whatās been written down just to make it that much more complete. it is an old book & the environments change with time. what he witnesses in his day may not be exactly the same as what another adventurer will witness in another two or three hundred years.
equipment checks arenāt out of the question when thereās plenty of time in the evening before bed. itās important to maintain their weaponry & accessories because it could be the difference between life & death out there. sorey is also the kind of guy to keep going till he can go no more, so there are definitely nights that he just quite simply falls asleep. pretty quickly, at that. shirt untucked, shoes removed. most of the time. not even his thoughts or anticipation of whatās to come keeps him in the waking world for long after expending so much energy. not when the blankets & pillows are so incredibly soft after sleeping on the ground or the floors of old ruins. heās got some impressive stamina, but itās important to rejuvenate. he also has mikleo at his side to remind him to slow it down every now & again or heāll just wear himself out. those nights are usually the best nights for sleep because he wakes up feeling absolutely refreshed (& pretty hungry). heās even known to sleep in late from time to time.
apart from the inn, sorey never really complains about sleeping on the ground (with the sky stretched out overhead) or within the depths of ruins (surrounded by such rich history). heās comfortable sleeping on his side or with his arms folded behind his head to serve as a pillow. in fact, nights like that ā kind of reminds him of home, no matter where he might be in the wide world below.
as for his dreams ā- the adventures never really end, do they?
