Here is an updated map of my remaining road trip. I’ve decided to spend NYE in Joshua Tree National Park. The one tweak to my itinerary (thanks @pamelakeats!) is that I’m going to try and swing by Sedona on my way to Kanab (instead of Vegas). Otherwise, it’s the same plan as my last updated map. I’ve been on the road for almost 3 months now (Left Eversource on 10/1, packed and got on the road on 10/2!). The last 3 months have been incredible as I have been able to appreciate the beauty of the western US and have never felt so free in my entire life. It has been incredibly therapeutic to have been able to physically remove myself from a toxic situation and have the space and open road to allow me to continue to heal. I am grateful for the ability to do this road trip and that the situation that caused me to leave my job in the first place has also allowed me to do this sort of traveling that I’ve always wanted to do for years. Since I left CT: - I’ve driven close to 10,000 miles through 22 states (see the blue line) - I’ve visited 13 national parks - I’ve gotten one flat tire and one oil change - I’ve touched both the northern border with Canada and the southern border Mexico - I’ve sprained my right ankle 3 times! - I finally reached the Pacific Ocean and drove mostly along the entire coast including most of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) - I’ve nearly filled up a 4TB portable hard drive I bought on the road with dashcam footage I have yet to go through (including the PCH!) - I almost ran out of gas twice and nearly got the 4x4 tacoma stuck on an unplowed road 😅 - I fostered a super cuddly cat who is still looking for his forever home! Still catching up with photos and videos. Pretty burnt out for now so I’ll continue next time I have good wifi.
