Ice skating

On a side note my garage door froze to the garage floor. Once I finally got it open my tires were frozen to the garage floor. Is winter over yet?

Speaking of Canada....here is one of the reasons we say that ours are ‘indoor cats’ :)

...Saint-Henri micro-torréfacteur + Rue Saint-Joseph Est, Quebec City - 20/12/2016. I started my second day in Quebec City by heading to a coffee shop suggested to me by a barista, Kim, who works at this coffee shop I'm always at, and is also from Quebec City. It was a bit of a trek finding this place as I decided to go against google maps suggestion and walk in what I thought would be the fastest route - as googles suggestion was taking me in a wired direction. Turns out my path was through the highway/ over passes, which meant I couldn't just walk off the sidewalk in the direction that I needed to go, I needed to walk the length of the highway before the next lights! So I got a little lost but eventually found my way!  Saint Henri Cafe was a really nice cafe! Very spacious with heaps of seating, nice baked goods (of course I had a donut), and most importantly - their coffee was very nice!  I chilled at Saint Henri for probably a couple of hours. It was really cold outside and I was still only wearing my Vans so my feet were really cold! It kind gets to a point that my feet were so cold, it felt like they were soaking wet, but really it’s just that they’re freezing cold and not wet at all. Weird and not pleasurable at all! From Saint Henri, I walked along Saint Joseph St (Rue Saint-Joseph Est) looking in some of the stores. Mainly looking for boots as I was in desperate need of boots! But I didn't want to pay heaps of money for boots that I’m only going to use for a few months for the rest of the winter and then not need them when I return to Australia. So I was unsuccessful looking for boots as most of them were super expensive! But that’s ok, I was happy that I was no longer slipping over everywhere and could actually walk around normally!  I gradually made my way back to the Old Quebec area, passing the train station  (last picture) and then eventually finding myself, again, in this beautiful European city, which seemed like I was walking through a movie set! Like you turn a corner and you’re in some city in Europe! 

...Rue du Petit Champlain, Quebec City - 19/12/2016. Oh my goodness! After walking down a somewhat steep sidewalk (with hand rails, cause it is actually pretty steep), I turned the corner and saw Rue du Petit Champlain! - the Christmas street, just down the stairs! You can’t see the stairs in any of these pictures but from the top of the hill to the neighbourhood below, is a staircase known as Breakneck stairs! I kid you not, that is the name! They’ve been renovated in the last couple of years so it’s ‘not as’ “break neck” but they were still a little steep and I was so scared I wouldn't total myself going down these stairs!  I took it very slow and held onto the frozen over handrails, making my way down the stairs in one piece! However, the streets below weren't totally flat! The main street in most of these photos was pretty flat, which was good! But the street that turned off the Main St (last picture) was not flat at all and took me like 5 minutes to walk 20m as I was walking so slow (probably looked like an idiot), trying not to wipe out!  Other than me hesitantly walking around, looking around, the City + Rue du Petit Champlain was so beautiful - covered in snow and looked so nice!  After walking around this area, looking in a few stores, trying to keep warm and not sliping over, I decided to play the $2.50 for the connivence of going up the funicular - the railway from the Rue du Petit Champlain to the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac!
