Unpopular opinion? I hate the Camus-archetype. Camus himself did it well, but everyone after him seemed loyal to the point of stupidity.
I have to agree with this, as far as I’ve seen. Especially Xander. I don’t hate Xander as a character (I like him a lot), but I hate how unwavering he was in his support of Nohr and what happened to him as a result in Birthright.

Though we should make a mini archetype as a subtype of the Camus archetype for sympathetic minor boss who is NOT important. Off the top of my head, Yodel of Mystery/New Mystery, Kanatz of FE4, Gomes of Thracia 776, Eagler of FE7, Hafedd of FE9, Mustafa, ETC.
Seems rather unnecessary if you ask me.Â
Think of two different Camus characters, and switch them. How does their respective plot change? Bonus: no Zeke or Sirius

Note the writers brought back GANGREL over Mustafa, who is just forgotten after his death. while Gangrel is ultimately forgiven for his warcrimes Basically to the writers, Mustafa was a throway minor boss unlike a Camus who is a major character that appears in more then 1 chapter.
There’s no requisite for the Camus to be plot important or even a major boss. Hell Bryce has 1 appearance AND THAT’S IT. He shows up the very chapter you see him.
I cannot help but see Walhart as the "Camus Archetype"-- he's a honorable foe, not a true villain.
