@campfright sent: “ why are you talking like we’ll never see each other again? ” - abi AGain
To say Nick felt bad was an understatement. Waking up with little to no recollection of what had happened was alarming, but learning the things he’d said to Abi leading up to his transformation was even worse. From what he’d been told, he’d pretty violently thrown or shoved her across the room. He could’ve seriously hurt or killed her, and he had a hard time believing any it was true. In fact, he didn’t want to believe that it was. Nick just couldn’t imagine ever mistreating her that way when he cared so much about her; more than he’d been able to properly express. He didn’t view Abi as just some girl or some sort of summer fling. He genuinely liked her and she was important to him.
Even though losing control of his emotions and lashing out was due to the infection spreading, it didn’t do anything to make Nick feel less guilty. He couldn’t apologize enough for what he’d done, and as if his insecurities weren’t already bad enough by making him doubt himself and his worth, now he had a hard time believing that Abi would want to stay in touch with him. Understandably, he’d scared her. The person who she was supposed to feel safe with had turned on her, and how was she supposed to just forget about it and go right back to trusting him? Werewolf curse or not, he couldn’t expect that of her.
Gaze fixated on the ground, unable to bring himself to look Abigail in the eyes this time, Nick shrugged his shoulders. ❝ I didn’t think you would want to see me again, after...Well, you know. ❞ He paused, hesitating on continuing further. He wanted to ask her if she did want to see him again, but ultimately decided against it. He would just let her talk and express her opinion it.
