So, a Discord group I'm in did a little challenge. You get a palette or a color and you have to create something with just that.
I think it's really meant for artists, but we decided both artists and writers could do it.
And to challenge myself, I did BOTH.
I did a doodle and a drabble. And because I am me, I just created more Sailor Moon content. I am a one trick pony, folks. XD
When I saw my palette, I immediately knew what I wanted to do. And it involves Camp Universe! One of my favorites.
If you did not read my Camp Elysian fic, you can click there to do so. You do not *need* to read it for this, but you can, and you should because it's fun and nostalgic. Anyway! The short version to catch you up is: the gang all work at a summer camp, Kayden is the main camp counselor. Morgan hates his guts at the beginning. Morgan ends up helping Serena and Darien sneak around because there is a strict no dating rule. Kayden does find out. By the end of the fic, Morgan doesn't hate Kayden any more, and he no longer things she's some dumb kid.
I'll probably put the drabble up on A03 at some point, but this will do for now. It's not polished or beta'd. BUT. It did feel really good to write *something* after such a long time of not doing so. So, enjoy, or don't. *shrug*
âExcuse me, Your Tallness.â
Kaydenâs eyes crept to the now cracked opened door, to greet the grinning blonde who had let herself into the cabin.
Without knocking.
But that was Morgan. He could let it slide.
Her arrival was no surpriseâas heâd heard her coming through the opened windows, chatting loudly as she always did with some other camper. So no, it was no surprise. He hadnât realized it was already so late, though. He wasnât quite ready to leave.
They had plans.
Well, she had plans.
Heâhe simply just followed her whims.
âAre you ready yet?â
Todayâs whim conflicted with his duties. âUh,â he began, setting down the paperwork heâd been looking through into a neat pile. âOne sec.â He looked at his watch, and then instinctively reached for his red clipboard.
âNuh uh,â she protested loudly. âNo Clippy.â
He stilled and looked to her, hands on her hips, her finger wagging in the air as if he was a child reaching for the last cookie. He wasnât sure what his face had contorted into, but she giggled and bounded over, pushing the clipboard back down to the old, stained coffee table. Then, she took his hand and began trying to tug him from the worn sofa. He knew not to reach for it again.
âI promise we will be back before you have to do your rounds.â
âLike the last time you âpromisedâ?â
She rolled her eyes and tugged harder on his arm. âJust come on.â
And he did.
She interlaced their fingers, her hand so small in his, and began quickly leading him down a path of crushed gravel that led away from camp. Morgan was radiant and full of excitement, the last of the dayâs sunshine glistening in her hair. He however could not help feeling like everyone was watching him. Watching him get pulled away from camp this close to lights out. What would they say to the one enforcing the rules sneaking off? He could hear the gossip already. Maybe he could come up with some lie? Some emergency he was taking care of. Morgan would tell him to stop worrying, that no one cared, and he shouldnât care if they said anything anyway.
But he cared.
Mostly he cared because he hadnât told his grandfather that they were dating yet, and he felt this terrible guilt for setting a bad example and breaking a rule. All behind the back of the greatest man heâd ever known.
But the thought of being away from her all summer was too much. Theyâd already spent so much time apart.
So, he didnât disclose their relationship. He was so worried his grandfather would say no. That the rule was there for a very good reason, and grandson or not, he would not allow it. She could not stay. And what would they have done then?
They could have continued just seeing each other on random weekends, talking on the phone after 8 every night, but Morgan was a pretty girl. And how long until the novelty of a long distance relationship wore off? How long until someone who lived near her started showing her attention? Before another Aaron showed up? How long before he wasnât enough?
All this sneaking around was not as fun as Darien and Serena made it out to be the previous summer. It had only been two weeks, and he was so worried people would find out. That theyâd rat him out and Morgan would have to go. He knew Jayden would never, but if he jokingly said he was going to tell just to get out of work one more time, Kayden might snap. Maybe he should just tell his grandfather? Rip the bandaid off. Get Jayden off his back. Stop lying and hoping to not get caught. His grandfather would understand, right? Morgan wasnât just his girlfriendâ
âHello? Earth to Kayden.â
Kayden blinked. He hadnât realized theyâd arrived. Morgan raised a brow and cocked her head slightly to the side. âThere you are. What were you lost in thought about?â
âNothing,â came his casual response. But not nothing. Everything. Morgan was everything. Professing that thoughâ
âMmhm. Well, forget about nothing, weâre here!â she exclaimed, proudly showing off her surprise.
His hand felt cold with the loss of contact. Kayden looked around for the first time. He recognized this spot. He had caught Morgan chaperoning lunches for Darien and Serena many times here. Heâd helped her cover for them here. Let them have their time in this not-so-secret make out spot. Those were the times he got to know Morgan more, as they talked while keeping lookout for the couple. When he realized she was more than she seemed.
She must have come before she gathered him, he thought. There was a quilted blanketâwhere she stole it from he did not knowâcovering a patch of grass between an open area of trees. It was quite serene this time of day, the noise of camp dying off, the shadows dancing along the ground.
She grinned when he noticed, said âtadaâ in her over-the-top way, and sat down. âTake a seat,â she said while patting the blanket next to her.Â
She looked so pretty sitting there, the last rays of the light kissing her face and the long shadows from the trees covering the surrounding area like a blanket. He joined her and was rewarded with her leaning into him. He wrapped an arm around her and enjoyed the warmth.
âItâll be dark soon.â He didnât know why he said it. He probably ruined the mood, and he instantly regretted it, but the weight of getting back on time was heavy on his mind. He couldnât help it.
âI know,â she said quietly, leaning closer, looking out toward the slowly retreating light.
He hadnât figured out exactly what the point of coming out here was yet, other than just being alone together. Which he didnât mind. He could be a little late for that. He leaned over and tenderly kissed the spot on her neck just below her ear.Â
Instead of reciprocating, Morgan laughed and pushed him away. âStop! Youâre going to miss it!â
Kayden was confused. Why were they out here, of all places, if not for a little fun?
Morgan rolled her eyes and leaned back into his frame. âYou remember when my family took me for vacation out of state for Spring Break?â
He nodded. Theyâd absolutely annihilated their plans to see each other with that spur of the moment trip.
âOn the phone one night while I was away, you described how pretty the sunset was.â
He remembered. After their plans had been ruined, Kayden had offered to come help his grandfather do some spring renovations. The hard labor was a welcome distraction.
âAnd you said, you wish I could have been there.â She paused, and he pulled her in close. âSo, I wanted to share a sunset with you, since we couldnât before.â
âI do remember,â he replied, kissing the top of her head. âThank you for remembering.â
He would remember this as the night he resolved to tell his grandfather about Morgan. And how much he loved her.

A/N: This is my submission for the Summer Feeling Challenge! I was hoping to have the entire thing ready by now, but unfortunately this project has taken a back seat over the past month. Iâm still super excited to share this extended preview of the first 2.5k words with you all! Thanks as always to my team @real-work-of-art and @fromyourstrulyh, and special dedication to the summer camp I went to for 11 years, where I had my first kiss and someone first explained to me what a blow job was. This fic is entirely self indulgent and Iâm ok with that.Â
Author: @helladirectionsâ
Pairing: Harry x y/n
Status: Extended Preview
Word Count:Â 2.5k
MASTERLIST | PATREON
Summary:
Harry as Y/Nâs close friend from camp, Y/N as the camp counselor trying to trick her tween campers into thinking sheâs cool. Tween campers as the matchmaker between the cute boy counselor and their favorite girl counselor because getting your counselors to date each other is the most important thing to a twelve year old. And maybe Y/N has a few camp bucket list items that Harry can help out with too.
Read the first 2.5k words below. Full length fic coming soon.Â
Harry was the perfect camp counselor. He was fun, energetic, played the guitar. Plus the kids loved him. Not only was he so completely charming that everyone wanted to be his friend, but he had the most beautiful British accent which made everyone stop and listen. Also, he was cute.Â
Harry was cute. His deep green eyes which always looked at you like you were the most important thing in the world, his chocolate brown curls, often disheveled from a long dayâs work. And then there were his muscles, his honey-golden skin which only tanned more as the summer went on, and his tattoos. Those damn tattoos which made Y/N dizzy if she thought about them too much.
There was no doubt in anyoneâs mind, Harry was the cute counselor. Not just the cutest male counselor assigned to this age group, but genuinely the cutest male counselor in the whole camp for the whole summer. Even before campers arrived he had other staff falling all over him.Â
Y/N had known Harry for years, and itâs not like his effect had worn off per say, more that she exhausted all of her energy fawning over him quickly and decided to redirect her attention elsewhere - to their friendship. Harryâs aunt had gone to camp in the States back in the day, and so each summer she insisted that his parents ship him out and follow in her footsteps. So for the past decade or so Y/N and Harry had been in the same age group, growing up with each other for a few weeks at a time.Â
So she was thrilled when she found out that even though she was stuck with one of the most difficult age groups, at the very least she would be working with Harry. It meant they could actually hang out and spend quality time together while working. Plus, when he talked, all the campers stopped to listen, no matter how slowly his words dripped out of his mouth. And his status as the cute counselor definitely made her cooler in the campersâ eyes for hanging out with him. So it was a winning situation all the way around.Â
Eleven and twelve year olds were a handful. Y/N knew going into the summer that she might be assigned this age group, considering they were one of the most difficult to handle and she was one of the most experienced camp counselors. But still, she had silently hoped that after two years on staff she would be rewarded with the teens. Not that teens didnât have their own issues - she knew from experience that the saying âbig kids, big problemsâ held a lot of truth. But middle schoolers? They were a whole other ball game.
Those who had started puberty had the hormones of the teens, with the knowledge and expectations of a child. Those who hadnât yet felt the pressure. They needed to be reminded to brush their teeth and their hair but also couldn't be left alone for too long or they might start kissing each other in broad daylight. They were obsessed with each other in the way that only eleven and twelve year olds can be. They were also obsessed with the counselors.Â
One counselor, in particular. And honestly, Y/N couldnât blame them.Â
Y/N and Harry were sitting under the shade of the overhang during pool time one day, chatting at a reasonable distance away from the kids when Harry had the idea. When he first suggested it, Y/N almost spit out the sip of water she had just taken from her water bottle. But he looked at her completely seriously.Â
âReally? Question time? With kids this young?â she challenged him.
Harry just shrugged, turning to look towards the campers. Half of them were still enjoying the pool, but the other half were already pretending to be too cool for it and instead sat around the edges gossiping with one another or playing cards.
âWhy not? Mâboys might not be ready for it, but the girls,â he nodded his head towards five or six of them sitting in the corner giggling about something. âIâm sure theyâd love it.âÂ
Y/N mulled it over. She had ten campers in her cabin, half of them eleven and half of them twelve. They would definitely be excited about it. Especially if it was Harry coming in to do it. The best kind of âask a counselor anythingâ was always âask a boy counselor anything,â Y/N remembered from her own experience as a camper for all those years.Â
âAlright,â she finally relented. âI mean, we didnât have an activity planned for cabin time tonight, so might as well.âÂ
Harry smiled back at her.Â
âDonât want to do a switch night though,â she clarified. âLike, Iâll go do one with your boys but a different night. I know a couple of mine don't want to be left alone.âÂ
He shrugged. âThatâs fair. Yâlittle one always struck me as quite shy.âÂ
âOh no,â she laughed. âSheâs the most rambunctious of the bunch. Did I tell you what we caught her planning the other day?âÂ
The conversation continued like that for a while longer, with each of them sharing their funniest stories of their campers from the past few days. All the while Y/N was working on a complicated friendship bracelet and Harry was decorating the back of his clipboard with Sharpies, and none of the kids seemed bothered to interrupt.Â
Not long after, the lifeguard blew his whistle, driving the kids out of the pool and towards their next activity. It was the second week of camp now, so they knew the usual routine. They went back to their cabins after pool time to take showers, some of the girls changing clothes even if they didnât swim just because trading t shirts with each other was fun.Â
The whole camp ate dinner in the dining hall (tacos, for the sixth time that summer already). A few of Harryâs boys chose that night to be picky about their food, so he made a great show of enjoying his. Y/N saw him from a few tables away, his eyebrows high, smiling as he chewed his dinner and pointed towards it with fake glee. It seemed to work - she saw a few of the boys take a bite after him.
After dinner the younger half of camp went to the amphitheater for a song session. Y/N and Harryâs campers were the oldest of âjunior campâ, and nearly all of them felt they were now far too cool to be singing and dancing with the eight year olds. The main part of the day wrapped up with their daily age-group fun program - tonight it was Capture The Flag. Finished up with a closing circle and then off to cabins to change into pjs, do cabin time, and go to bed.
But as soon as Y/N and her campers got back to their cabin, she made an announcement.Â
âRedwood cabin!â she called out to get their attention. âYou can change into your pjs if youâd like, but if you are a person who wears a bra you should keep your bra on. Also please clean up the floor a bit, weâre going to have a guest tonight!âÂ
The girls immediately started giggling and chatting, trying to guess who was going to be joining them. Was it their favorite songleader to come and sing lullabies? Was it one of the upper staff who would give them some kind of a lecture? Was it older campers to teach them some kind of activity?â
âYouâre all wrong!â one of them called out. âItâs obviously going to be a boy. I mean, why else would she say to keep our bras on?âÂ
âOoh, is it that cute boy from Pine cabin?â one of them ran up and asked.
Y/N just chuckled. âIâm not telling, itâs a surprise. Now go clean up and get ready.âÂ
The campers followed her directions for the most part before sitting down in a circle on the floor at the center of their cabin. Y/N sat in front of them on her bed, checking her watch. Harry should be getting there any minute now. How long could it possibly take him to get his boys ready for bed and hand them off to a counselor-in-training?Â
It was sweet, the way the girls were all jittery and excited without even knowing what was in store. Y/N remembered fondly nights exactly like this when she was their age. Sure camp taught her how to climb trees and tie-dye shirts and sing new songs, but the untold truth was that camp was the perfect place to learn about boys and kissing and dating and when she was just a year or two older than her current campers she fondly remembers a girl telling her about blow jobs. It seemed so grotesque at the time - boys donât even wipe when they pee, why would she want to put that in her mouth?Â
Finally a knock at the door.
âHello? Yeh all decent?â Harry called from the other side of the cabinâs door.Â
The girls all shrieked.
âYeah, come on in,â Y/N called out.Â
Harry walked in, ducking his head to make it through the barrier which had been originally built likely in the 1930s and hardly upgraded since. When he looked up and made eye contact with her, Y/N couldnât help but notice how bright his deep green eyes looked, even after a long exhausting day of being a camp counselor. He had on a pair of worn out jeans and a t shirt which showed off his arms nicely. If she didnât know any better, Y/N wouldâve said it wasnât just the campers with butterflies in their tummies.
He made his way over to the center of the cabin and sat down on Y/Nâs bed next to her. The girls were all smiling and whispering to each other.Â
âAlright ladies,â Harry started. All the campers quieted down, looking directly at him like whatever came out of his mouth was going to be the most important thing in the world. âIâm here tonight to do a question time. Ask mâanything you want. Can ask about me, or about boys, or about camp, or about school. Whateverâs on yâminds, alright?âÂ
He smirked, looking over to Y/N next to him. The area was small and their shoulders and legs were touching. It was almost surreal seeing him there - on her bed. A place that most of the staff and lots of the campers had probably dreamt of him being.Â
A few girls raised their hands to start asking questions, and Harry called on them one at a time. They started rather innocent.
âWhatâs your middle name?â
âEdward.â
âHow many years have you come to camp?â
âThis would be mâtenth.â
âWhatâs your favorite color?â
âPink.â
But it wasnât long before they strayed...Â
âWhat color is your underwear right now?â
âBlue.â
âBoxers or briefs?â
âDo yâeven know what the difference is? Anyway boxer-briefs.âÂ
âHow old were you when you had your first kiss?â
âHmm...â he paused. âThink I was about thirteen. Happened here at camp actually, out behind the Oak cabin if mânot mistaken.â
âOoh tell us the story!âÂ
Harry smiled, looking over towards Y/N. He opened his mouth to speak but one of the girls interrupted him.
âOh was Y/N your first kiss?!?!?âÂ
Harry chuckled. âNo, no. But she was kind of there, if I remember correctly.â
Y/N nodded at the memory.
âWas with this girl named Sarah. Thought she was quite cute so I gave her the pot I made in art elective. Sat next to her at every meal for three days, too. Finally she slipped a message to me to meet her outside behind her cabin at midnight, when she thought her counselors would be gone. So me and mâfriend snuck out of our cabin and met her. When we got there she had a friend with her, so our two friends walked a little bit away. Was quite awkward, but she was sweet.â
âI was in the cabin,â Y/N clarified. âBut we were all staring out the window.âÂ
âAnd your counselors were asleep?â
Harry laughed again. âNo, we underestimated how late they would stay up. Got caught red handed, we did.âÂ
The campers laughed.Â
âBut I want yeh to know, itâs ok if youâre a lot older before you have your first kiss, or younger, or however old. The most important thing is that itâs a good experience, right Y/N?âÂ
He looked over at her for reassurance and she nodded.Â
âHow old were you?âÂ
âHey now, thatâs for another night. This is Harryâs question time, not mine,â she teased back at her camper.Â
âHarry, do you have a girlfriend?âÂ
He took a deep breath and stared at the ceiling for a moment before answering. Y/N knew the question must be difficult for him. Heâd been dating a girl back in London for about six months when he heard back that he had been hired to work at camp. She didnât want to come with him. She didnât want to do long distance. She didnât want him to leave.Â
Harry called Y/N out of the blue one day - well it was the middle of the night for him, thatâs why he said he called her instead of a friend in London. He said he didnât want to wake anyone up. And he wanted to know what she thought, since she was his best girl camp friend. And she was honest with him.Â
Look H, I canât tell you what to do. But I want you to be happy and I know Iâve never seen you happier than when youâre on a hike to the hidden campsite. And someone who really loves you should also want you to be happy. But I donât know. Maybe youâre happier with her and I just havenât seen it. Just... do what makes you happy H, yeah?Â
He broke up with her the next day and called Y/N in a blubbering mess.Â
âNo, no I donât,â he answered softly.
âYou should date Y/N!â one of the younger ones called out without missing a beat.Â
Y/N felt herself blushing, but she wasnât sure why. Campers always wanted their counselors to date each other. And it wasnât the first time someone had suggested it to the two of them. But he was sitting close to her, legs and arms touching, lounging on top of her favorite blanket. It had been a while since she had even thought about it, honestly. He was too good of a friend at this point, wasnât he?Â
Harry flashed her a toothy smile, and if she didnât know any better, Y/N wouldnât sworn she saw a glimmer of mischief in his eyes.
Even before the arrival of the two new demigods, Genevieve knew that strange things were about to happen. She sat on the porch of the Aphrodite cabin absentmindedly drawing henna tattoos on her brother Mitchel whilst Lacy sunbathed next to them in the heat of the afternoon. She found great comfort in the art, using it to distract herself from thinking about recent events, though failing miserably.
It was very unusual for Gods of Goddesses to visit the Camp Half-Blood. And so naturally Genevieve had been rather taken aback when the most beautiful woman she had ever seen appeared behind her and asked for a quick chat.
ââŚMom?â Genevieve asked in disbelief, suddenly feeling underdressed â not just in her clothes or even makeup, just by the fact that this was Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty who seemed to have the very power just to make you feel inferior by being in her presence.
âIsnât it nice to finally meet in person!â Aphrodite beamed down at her daughter who clearly wasnât buying her attempt at a friendly first encounter. âCome! Let us talk.â
Realising that she didnât really have a say in the matter, Genevieve joined her mother as they strolled through the strawberry fields. Ever since the Titan war, the Gods had been making more of an effort with their demigod children, taking care of them, maybe sending them gifts from time to time or granting a few of their wishes. Claiming them at the very least. But a visit from your godly parent? This was still a great honour â or so they claimed. Genevieve was astonished that she of all people would be chosen, though she felt more discomfort than anything else. Maybe it was her motherâs fake smile, or the sense that the Love goddess was after more information than would usually be shared on a leisurely walk between family members.
âSo, tell me,â Aphrodite began, putting her arm around Genevieveâs shoulders making her wince. âAny guys take your fancy at the moment?â
âWhat? No.â She replied defensively, liking the situation less and less. Relationships were not something she wished to discuss right now.
âAny girls then?â
âNo. Look, Mom, I donât really wanna go there at the moment because of-â
âOf course! How could I be so silly?! How could I possibly forget?! After all, I caused the whole thing.â And for the first time Aphrodite formed a genuine â though smug â smile to herself, as if she was looking back at fond memories where she had obviously played some great importance.
Her words took time to sink in.
âWait⌠you caused all of that?! On purpose?!! All thatâ!â
âHush, my dear child.â Genevieve felt her anger subsiding. She really, really wanted to be angry at her mom right now, now that she realised it was her that had caused her such pain, but she just couldnât. Instead, she found herself letting her mum explain.
âWhatâs life without a little drama? I mean, come on, if all couples fitted perfectly into place the world would be pretty boring if you ask me. Besides, a little heartbreak is necessary. It makes you appreciate the depth and value of true love when you come to experience it.â
Genevieve felt her irritation boiling up inside again. âIt wasnât just a little heartbreak, it was downright humiliating.â
âAh, emotions are all connected. You cannot separate them as easily as that. Heartbreak will always come with more than you bargained for - youâll learn that someday.â
âLooks like youâve already allowed for that to happen.â She replied bitterly. âWhat did you want to talk about anyway? This canât be all of it â coming down from Olympus to dig up old wounds.â
âAh, yes, gossip can always be distracting,â she said, smiling knowingly to herself again in that way that was really beginning to aggravate Genevieve. âNo what I really wanted to talk to you about was a different kind of love. Sisterly love, in fact.â She paused dramatically. âYou see, whereas lovers come and go â well, mine do, at least â sisters are there for life. You can never escape their love or their presence, no matter how hard you try. And if they were ever to be in danger â well, letâs just say, there will come a time soon where youâll have to think for yourself. Make difficult choices. Ones on which the fate of Olympus will rest. I thought Iâd come here to prepare you for that, but it seem like you have everything under control. Take care of her, young Genevieve, and things will get better.â
âTake care of who?â
But her question was too late. She only had a few seconds to cover her eyes before the goddess revealed her true form. By the time she dared open them again, Aphrodite had gone, leaving no trace.
Reluctantly, she traipsed back to her cabin, where she had remained for the rest of the day. She had decided by this point that mulling over her momâs words was not going to help, nor was it very healthy, so she was trying many forms of distraction. Though no matter how hard she tried, moments from their conversation kept replaying in her mind and eventually she smudged the spiral she was drawing and it all got too much.
âGoddammit Aphrodite!!â She exclaimed into the air, much to Mitchel and Lacyâs surprise.
âIs everything okay?â He asked.
âYeah⌠yeahâŚâ She lied absentmindedly. âJust went wrong, thatâs all.â
Luckily she was saved from explaining herself, however, as at that moment Marie ran over to them, out of breath.
âTwo new demigods have just arrived,â she announced, slightly flustered. âChiron thinks you should be there.â
A summer camp, nothing bad can happen right? Just kids running around having fun, playing games, and swimming. Noting could happen, well thats what Ryan and Coby are hoping. Its their first year at the camp and all that they ask for is peace. With their cabin mates Will and Jordan, they just hope for normal things. But what happens when everything starts falling apart. People go missing, everything feels tense, and someone ends up dead. This is NOT an ordinary camp is it.
This will be my new FanficÂ
You can find everything to do with it under the tag #CampFicÂ
The first chapter will hopefully be posted within the next few days.
For 18 year old Liam Payne it was his senior year that made him feel like there was something more to him, and that his friends were holding him back. Over the last few months of school he had become increasingly distant from his family and friends, spending more time sulking around the house and drinking alone on school nights, generally doing things that his parents said were âjust not you Liam.â He hated that saying, why couldnât it be? Why did he have to be something in particular, couldnât he just be Liam and do as he pleased and be happy with that? Just because he had acted one way for as long he could remember, that didnât mean he couldnât be someone else, or did it? By the time June came around and everyone was planning trips for graduation and gathering things for University in the fall, Liam could not have been more undecided. He had been accepted to a local college and had paid tuition, his parents bought him his books and he was going to be living at home, but it all felt wrong. All year his friends had been planning a trip to Ibiza in Spain that Liam had originally been looking forward to, except when it came to book his plane tickets two weeks in advance, Liam found himself looking at other travel opportunities for himself.
Liam wanted to go somewhere, get a truly new life experience away from his friends and family where he felt he had to be the same person he had always been. He wanted a chance to figure out what he really liked, without everyone hovering around him. That was how, instead of typing in the website to purchase his plane tickets to Spain, Liam ended up on the Google search page for âsummer get away for teens find yourselfâ it was a stupid search and Liam felt stupid for even thinking he could pull something like that off, but half an hour later he found something promising.
âCamp Summit, a place for teenagers aged 13-19 where adventure meets nature. Located in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, your teen will get the experience of a life time. With many activities, councillors who love what they do, gorgeous scenery secluded from the hustle and bustle of city life your child will have the perfect environment to learn about themself and make friends that will last a lifetime. Camp Summit is an international camp accepting campers from all around the world, please register by fax or e-mail before June 30th 2012 for the best summer of your life.â
âWell this sounds promising, I could go to CanadaâŚâ Liam trailed off to himself. âI bet there wonât even be anyone else from England.â
Then he looked at the calendar on his phone, it read âJune 29th 9:00pm.â Liam mumbled a couple swear words before rushing to send his application in along with a down-payment for the 10 weeks he would be at camp. He knew he had to talk to his parents about it but as he was 18 there wasnât much they could do to stop him.
Two days later Liam was packed and at the airport saying goodbye to his parents and sisters, it was a little emotional but Liam knew he was making a good decision, at least thatâs what he thought. It seemed like the best thing, he had to get away and this was a good opportunity.
Upon getting off the plane at the airport in B.CÂ Â Liam spotted a sign reading âCamp Summit Bus,â he greeted the woman who was probably in her late 20âs, he pulled out his passport so she could crosscheck it with the list she had, among all the typed names Liamâs was hastily written at the bottom in pen.
âLast minute decision?â The woman questioned.
âYeah, I uh, had other plans but I changed my mind.â Liam mumbled, feeling stupid for traveling across the world just because he felt like something was missing from his life.
âUnderstandable, thereâs a bus outside waiting, itâs the last one leaving today so you should hurry on.â She smiled.
Liam nodded his head, picking up his luggage from the ground , taking a deep breath, this is what I wanted and itâs for the best, and heading outside where a big yellow school bus was waiting. The bus had significantly less people on it than Liam would have imagined. The bus driver helped him put his large bag under the bus and then it was time for him to choose a seat.
Since there were a lot of empty seats Liam just took one at the back with a couple empty seats around him, well empty until a small blonde girl rushed onto the bus and sat in the seat across from him.
âYou came for pre-camp too?â The girl asked, she was probably around 16 or so and had a thick German accent. She was pretty but didnât strike Liamâs interest in the slightest, and he of course had no idea what she was talking about.
âUh pre-campâŚ?â Liam asked.
âCamp doesnât start for another week, pre-camp is for all us eager beavers to get settled in and whatnot, I figured youâd know. Are you new?â
Instantly Liam was filled with horror, how had he missed that, what the heck was he supposed to do for a week with a minority of people where he knew no one, he suspected that his cabin mates probably wouldnât even be there yet. He knew he should have waited a couple of days for the impulse decision to pass, he should be in Ibiza drinking with his classmates right now, but somehow the thought of that seemed even worse.
âYeah I am new, uh Iâm Liam, from Wolverhampton, England.â He forced a smile before putting his headphones in as the engine flared and the bus began its journey into the middle of nowhere.
Liam drifted in and out of consciousness during the 4 hour bus ride, but the further he got into the wilderness the clearer his thoughts were and he started to realize that maybe this wasnât such a bad decision, he was just a little worried about potentially being alone in his cabin for an entire week.
He listened in on stories other people were telling from their previous years at the camp, these kids sound like they have everything figured out and theyâre even younger than I amâŚ
The bus eventually reached its destination, underneath an old rusty gate down a dirt road, crossing a bridge over top a small river a big open field came into view with high ropes courses off to one side, some little brown buildings labeled Mess Hall, Tuck Shop, Camp Store, and Nurses Office. A clear blue lake sat behind with a small beach, some fire pits, a basketball court, some football nets, a wall of canoes and kayaks, even a few tiny sailboats, at the other side of the lake must have been the great Canadian Rockies because they were some of the biggest mountains Liam had ever seen. The next things that Liam noticed were the trees, trees in all directions, all taller than tallest skyscraper in England.
He followed the other 10 or so kids off the bus and into the mess hall where they were all looking at lists, cabin lists, Liam waited for them all to clear out before he even attempted trying to find his own name. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and so on until 40, but where was cabin 6 Liam wondered out of curiosity, at the very bottom of any list was Cabin 6 written in pen with 5 names, Liam Payne was the last one added. Why was cabin 6 the last minute choice he wondered? Next Liam checked the little map that had directions to every cabin assuming he was allowed to go off on his own as no one had given him any instruction and that seemed to be what everyone else was doing.
Upon looking on the map Liam understood why cabin 6 was the last one they wanted to use, it was in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. From the map, it looked like it was closest to the lake though, but also farthest into a forest, down a little trail of its own, winding farther and farther into a forest that looked like an abyss. Well at least thatâs what it looked like as Liam walked down the long trail on his own carrying 3 bags of stuff, it had taken him at least fifteen minutes to walk from the mess hall to the cabin.
âThis is going to be a fucking long summer, I should have stayed in fucking England.â He spoke to himself as he walked through the door to find the other beds empty and the cabin seemingly vacant.
âTell me about itâŚâ Groaned another voice from a back room,  another voice with an English accentâŚ
âI canât be myself with you always on my back about everything!â Harry  yelled at his mum, he hated fighting with her as they had a great relationship generally, but sometimes things just needed to be said.
That fight was probably the main contributor to the mass of âsummer vacationâ pamphlets Harry found of his bed when he came home from school. There were little books advertising all sorts of summer getaways for kids, sleep away camps and whatnot, on top a little note from his mum saying âH, I understand what youâre going through, so Iâm sending you off to be your own man at summer camp. Luv mumâ. Harry laughed, his dark curls falling over his eyes, he yelled down a âTHANKS MUMâ and soon enough she was standing in his door way beaming at her son.
âThe only thing is those pamphlets are just for show, I already paid for you to go to the one called Summit or something, the only thing is your flight leaves early this morning so weâre leaving here in 5 or so hoursâŚIâm sorry I didnât tell you sooner but they had deadlines!â His mother spoke.
âMum, thank you, really, this is going to be great.â Harry smiled, enveloping his shorter mum in a big hug.
A couple hours later Harry found himself alone on a plane, sat in between a smelly large woman and an older business man, but across the aisle was one of the most attractive boys he had ever seen, if not THE most. The mystery boy had light brown hair, sparkling blue grey eyes and a very displeased expression on his face. Harry couldnât help himself from staring and thinking wouldnât it be lucky if he was going to this camp tooâŚ
Louis could feel someone eye fucking him from across the cramped cabin of the plane he was currently on. It was a tad uncomfortable but Louis was determined not to give whoever it was the satisfaction of acknowledging their presence, so instead he focused on falling asleep because, it was going to be one hell of a time difference once he arrived at camp.
The 20 year old from Doncaster had been searching for something, the feeling that there was a part of him missing had been tearing away at Louis for longer than he cared to remember, that was how he ended up drunkenly entering all sorts of stupid internet contests one night when he couldnât sleep. Most of the contests were for winning vacations to various parts of the worlds, and a couple months later Louis got an e-mail from some summer camp in Canada that had apparently declared him the winner of their âWin a summer in Western Canadaâ competition. He didnât complain, but upon reading the fine print Louis realized that he had to be 19 to attend this camp, which was a small problem as he was going to be turning 21 in December of the same year. They obviously werenât a great camp since Louis was easily able to bull shit being 19, and just like that he was in.
Louis really had no idea if he even wanted to go to this camp, but hey he won a contest right, why not go on a little solo adventure this summer, do some soul searching in some Canadian mountains because isnât that was people do in Canada?Â
