Camp Digital 2013 — my review
TL;DR: A short and interesting event bring nicely by we are sigma people about any kind of frontend/UX and around web. What about the programme? Brand and Other Dirty Words — Steph Troeth: very interesting, full of real world examples (akoha, nest, fitbit UI) and videos (Kurt Vonnegut on the Shapes of Stories, for example) talking about brands, love, message and stories. The wearable technology revolution — Robin Christopherson: a mind-blowing presentation about wearable technology, accessibility, google glasses and autonomous cars. I really loved the quote: "We are visually impaired in different moments of our lives. When driving a car and wanting to send an SMS, when jogging and wanting to skip the song, when we are in the beach and the sun doesn't let us see the screen" Lean UX techniques to drive product innovation in big companies — David Hawdale: an interesting but more teorethical and abstract talk. I will keep the quote: "The Edge is a place where the interesting stuff happens" Laying out the future — Chris Mills: simply amazing. A quick and deep summary of all the new CSS and HTML cutting-edge properties and tags that are coming. Just stop reading and have a look at his awesome slides but as a cue remember that Flexbox. Applying "Persuasion, Emotion and Trust” (PET™) Design Theory in the real world — Christopher Bush: not bad, but lots of examples (and even jokes) literally copied from darkpatterns.org :-( That's all. Kudos to Sigma for creating this very nice event and see you next year!
