Handsome Mahogany Campaign Chest on Chest; top right drawer is a drop down secretaire with tooled leather skiver, brass reinforcements and flush brass pulls; two smaller drawers over three larger ones, on later bun feet; English circa 1860. height: 42 in. 106.5 cm., width: 36 in. 91.5 cm., depth: 18.5 in. 47 cm. Originally a portable chest of drawers such as these would be used by officers in the field. These units were reinforced with metal edges and corners to withstand rough traveling conditions. Rare Merchant's Chest from India, 19 Century. Painted red and dark brown.
