Iād seen this TEDTalk several times scouring the Internet, but the title put me off. Only today, the 19 million views intrigued me enough to watch it, and I was surprised enough by Cameron Russelās talk to feel a little ashamed.Ā
It was refreshing to hear a young, yet seasoned model eloquently and deeply critique her industry and our society. It is rare to hear someone like Cameron, in such a position of privilege, recognise and speak profoundly about a ālegacy of gender and racial oppressionā on which she cashed out on.Ā
I think it was truly commendable of her to acknowledge the circumstances of herĀ āperceivedā success, and those of othersā perceived failures; I only wish this was something less uncommon.
