Save file #23 accidentally stumbling into Cory's old AU and MV at one point or another???

What's the lore with CORY'S AU?

Where Cory is from isn't just a different au, it's a different multiverse than the ones he currently resides in

The multiverse he originates from is considered the Camera Timeline™

get it? Camera timeline? Camera face? Heheheh

jokes aside, Cory is from the 'og' universe in his multiverse. There are other au Corys back in his home multiverse, but a lot of them are either dead or genocidal

Cory's role in his story is that he is the duality of man

if he kills every monster, he is freed and able to live: but if he's a pacifist, he dies.

every time.

if he spares even a single monster, he will die

in some timelines: he is a soul used to break the barrier, in others: he is used for his soul characteristics

in some, he sacrifices himself to save monsters

but Cory, the one I use as a sona, made a different choice. He was sick of dying repeatedly, so he tried to do what he'd never done before: Genocide.

Every time he got out, he was put right back in the beginning, as he gets automatically reset when he reaches the end due to a glitch in his multiverse's code. He was desperate for the fleeting feeling of freedom he got when he finally saw the sun again, but with every genocide, his relationships broke. Those who remembered grew distant, but only one broke through to him:

Sans.

sans had only ever been able to do defensive magic but he became aggressive at Cory's continued insanity. He killed him once, sending him right back to the beginning. He stopped 14 genocides in a row before Cory and him broke out into a screaming argument the second he entered snowdin. Their argument got bad enough to where Cory's vision began to glitch, and suddenly he could see flashing save stars and buttons

(Cory cannot naturally see the things that the player sees, despite being the player.)

When him and Sans's argument turned physical, he took a bone to the gut before he ended up tackling sans into one of the save stars, glitches filling his vision as they were both brought to the menu, where they continued to battle as Sans screamed at him that they needed to get back to the game

Cory was distraught that Sans had known and never told him, so they continued to brawl, Cory eventually being thrown back against one of the black walls covered in code, causing it to crack and drag cory out into the camera timeline version of the doodlesphere

(instead of being full of paper and stuff, it's an endless abyss of code and commands that lead to different universes)

the code, being alerted to an unauthorized presence, tried to delete it. But, seeing as it was something from the source universe, it caused a massive error, sending the code scattered across the multiverse, the character model being locked out and sent to another universe while the soul stayed fractured across the camera timeline

now, Cory roams universes, able to see code now that his body is glitched. He'd turned into an anomaly but he's still himself

but now he's missing his soul

the soul of kindness

he lost his inherent empathy when he lost his soul, so it's much harder for him to care about monster lives, sending him to dust 8 multiverses in search for any way to complete himself again

but uh. Yeah. His sans found him at one point
