#camarillasaurus

Got five Baryonychine Spinosaurs to get through today, so I used a base to get through it a little faster because I was really aching to get to the Spinosaurus at this point and these remaining five basically look identical. But I gave em all patterns of ~various quality~ that way they each still get a little love. Because here at saffronsdinosaurart we don't leave anyones favorites dinosaur behind. No matter how obscure they are. Or how ugly I accidentally made their patterns... sorry Camerillasaurus fans. It was the last one I did and I just got real bored with the basic patterns by the end.

Camarillasaurus is known from very few fossil fragments, however these fragments indicate that this genus was a Ceratosaur. This is a major discovery as it is one of the few ceratosaurs known from the early Cretaceous period. It lived from around 130 to 125 million years ago, in the Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous. It was also found in the Camarillas Formation of the Teruel Province in Spain, and is the first vertebrate found in the region. As Ceratosaurs were common in the Late Jurassic and the Late Cretaceous, but not in between, the discovery of this dinosaur is a major find, a missing link of sorts; it fills the gap between the periods. It confirms that Ceratosaurs remained active in Europe. It accompanies other, more dubious Ceratosaurs such as Ligabueino and Spinostropheus in the period. It also was probably similar to Limusaurus. The size and features of the animal are not known; the above illustration is simply conjecture.
