So I have been getting back to listening to Cantopop recently. Cantopop refers to Cantonese music, Cantonese being the language used in Hong Kong, Macua and certain Chinese-resided area.
A band called C AllStar, has just released an album titled ‘Anthropocene’, with twelve songs that each describes a stage of the universe that we are living and shaping every day.
It includes tracks as (translated by meaning by me only)
1. Entering Universe Zero
2. Declaration to the Humankind
3. the Maldives
4. Last Word of the Polar Bear
5. Assemble! Earth Protectors!
6. 48 Hours Remaining
7. Between Dawn and Dusk
8. As We View the Milky Way*(may further translate it better later)
9. Fear of No Tomorrow
10. Those who Remained
11. Just With You
12. Wheel of Time
Last Word of the Polar Bear is the song from the video. I know you guys probably don’t understand the lyrics, which I plan to translate and analyze them in English in the following months, but maybe from the melody and the arranging of music, maybe you can also feel what kind of song and album this group has made.
In the current age, I apprecaite a local band from a city, writing a whole album on this issue and it echoes what we should feel anyway. I do wish more and more people will get to appreciate Cantopop, just as people got to apprecaite J-Pop and K-Pop.
