MY BABIES 😭💗 dwayne is my absolute fav but i also fucking love marko. i love both portrayals of them and adore both of their actors.

anyways, i figured that i should share my notes because GOD FUCKING DAMN does the audio not nearly give enough detail. there is so many important aspects. (also more info about the recording below)

also!!!! warnings!!!!!! all of my notes are completely unfiltered to give you guys the authenticity of exactly what i was thinking and witnessing when i watched the scene. that being said, these are not proof read and may be wildly inappropriate. love you!!!

(also the recording is from april 1st, meaning that it is not the most up-to-date)

ACT ONE:

- david is SO GOOD

- when he introduces the boys, the CHEMISTRY (dwayne and marko high five, lots of wolf whistles, etc)

- WHEN DAVID PUTS MICHAEL’S EARING IN MICHAEL GRABS HIS ARM VERY SENSUALLY

- dwayne offers michael a blunt

- david orders marko around A LOT (this is canon now)

- SO MUCH TOUCHING DURING THE GUITAR SCENE. OH MY GOD.

- “let me do the neck” WHICH ONE DAVID? THE GUITAR OR MICHAEL? I AM STILL UNCLEAR

- also during the guitar scene david had one arm wrapped around michael THE ENTIRE TIME (the other holds the guitar with him). GOD

- “you got it, michael” david says while turning michael’s head to look at him after he plays a few notes. THEN HE GRABS MICHAELS HAND TO GUIDE HIM. THE TOUCHING???

- david messing around with marko. king

- “breathe Michael, never stop breathing” and then david points at the boys. the foreshadowing ugh

- AND AS THEY CONTINUE TO SING DAVID SMELLS THE CLOTH THAT THEY USED ON MICHAEL’S EAR WITH HIS BLOOD ON IT.

- “need us to walk you home, kid?” i love my boys

- dwyane’s smirk, marko’s whatever he has going on, paul’s drumsticks UGH I LOVE THE BOYS

- after guitar scene and “time to kill” they kill pete. it starts with some whistling (likely from david) and then the sound amps up (i think some of murder capital of the world is sung). pete gets scared, and backs into paul, who shoves him onto the floor with marko across from him. then dwayne and david show up and the boys start circling him. david makes the first move by grabbing his neck, and the other boys quickly follow, with marko grabbing and dwayne grabbing an arm each and paul grabbing his back. david kinda makes a grab at his neck, and then they all crouch down with him and feed together. you don’t see much of them eating, but here pete’s screams and david shows his face dripping with blood. 10/10 very cool

- the emerson family makes me wanna cry i love them so much.

- the set for their house looks so detailed. its kinda incredible compared to the other broadway sets i’ve seen!!!!

- max is SO unnerving and awkward. his actor does a great job of making me feel uncomfortable so props

- i dont love “be kind, rewind” BUT the ensemble during it looked pretty cool. the ensemble is lowkey just really good in general

- the earring that david gives michael is actually really cute on him. ahhh boyfriends!!!

- “you don’t belong with guys like him” star stop ruining the sick threesome you could have just because david’s evil. homeboy gotta get laid somehow

- MARIA WIRRIES AS STAR IS SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY GLOWING. FUCK IM IN LOVE

- david fake crying while interrupting star and michael saying “young love, nothing sweeter!” is everything

- “i dont know, what’s going on, paul?” (marko) “oh who wants to know?” (paul) “michael wants to know” (dwayne)

- “lost, boy” beginning with “do you ride, boy?” is insane. DAVID JUST ASK IF HE WILL TOP YOU NOW.

- also “lost, boy” is one of my favs. so angsty yum yum

- the way david says “michael” does something for me.

- when michael falls, dwayne kinda runs up to him and they all laugh and mock him

- the rest of the boys are all ready to fight michael but david stops them and does a sassy little finger wave away to dismiss them. like yes king save your bf or else your other bfs will eat him!

- when david offers michael to see their home, marko walks up to david and does a very sensual little grab at his arm and asks if he’s serious. david says that he thinks that michael could be one of them

- “how far are you willing to go, michael?” DAVID SAYS THIS WHILE SEXUALLY CARESSING MICHAEL’S CHIN WITH HIS FINGERS. STOP THIS MADNESS

- DWAYNE HAS A TATTOO THAT SAYS “CORONADO” (LIKE WHERE THEY NOW LIVE) AND THE OTHER BOYS SAY THAT ITS TO REMIND HIM IF HE EVER GETS LOST. THEY ARE SO RIDICULOUS I LOVE IT

- DAVID AND DWAYNE SIT ON THE COUCH TOGETHER AND DAVID IS HUGGING DWAYNE WHILE DWAYNE LIGHTS ANOTHER CIGARETTE. THEY ARE ALL CLOSE AND TOUCHY IT IS FUCKING PHENOMENAL

- every time david freezes time (cause he can do that now) it is so angsty. i love his and star’s little convos

- david freezes time just as michael is about to take a hit from the cigarette that dwayne gives him. when he freezes time and is talking to star, david takes the cigarette from michael and smokes it. when time unfreezes, michael is all confused like where tf did my cigarette go and then he sees david just smoking away.

- “i already have a family” (michael) “ah, looks like you’ve got the marks to prove it” (david) OH MY GOD. david pulls up michaels shirt in a very tender manner to reveal his bruise. im gonna cry

- more david touching michaels arm

- OK OMG. towards the end of the “my heart with you” david cuts his hand and squeezes his blood into the cup meant for michael.

- michael’s response to seeing david squeeze his blood into a cup and say that if he drinks it, there is no going back is golden. what do you mean you’d “like that” ????? JUST HAVE SEX ALREADY GOD.

- david bringing michael’s hand to grab the cup from him. just the touching

- star urges him to drink the blood in the cup because when david froze time, he mentions that no one ever leaves there alive and says “either he drinks, or we eat” and i like that she catches on. she wanna protect michael too

- when michael is going to drink the blood, the boys and star move closer and all place a hand on him as he drinks. when he does drink, they all cheer and yell, with marko kinda giving him a side hug and shaking him a bit

- AND AFTER HE DRINKS THE BLOOD DAVID PULLS MICHAEL IN FOR A HUG AND MICHAEL HUGS BACK. WHEN THE HUG BREAKS, DAVID’S HAND BRUSHES PAST MICHAEL’S FACE TO CARESS HIM. ALL WHILE CRY LITTLE SISTER IS SUBTLY SUNG IN THE BACKGROUND

- all the cute brotherly stuff after he drinks!!!! david hugs michael, then hugs paul, then michael hugs dwayne, and is then pat on the back by paul

- “TIME’S A WASTIN, MIKEY BOY” i think marko says this and its canon now btw

- star and michael my babies

- then it transitions to the train scene, which is fucking epic. the boys hang on the railing, and then fall. when michael watches david fall, he screams “DAVID” in like a whimpery voice that was very hot. then the boys start chanting “MICHAEL”, and he eventually lets go to the railing

- as he falls to the ground slowly, he starts singing “belong to someone”

- lj benet singing “belong to someone” is actually phenomenal. he is so perfect for michael. ALSO THE LINE “i want a love that can slow down time, that lasts forever, that never dies” HAS TO BE ABOUT DAVID BRO. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO SLOWS DOWN TIME. AND THEN DAVID HAS THE AUDACITY TO RESPOND WITH “i can make him feel like that” LIKE HELLO IS THIS NOT PROOF?????? THERE IS SOMETHING HAPPENING I JUST CANT PROVE IT YET

- also during “belong to someone” there is dramatic flying and it’s perfect.

- ALSO THE SONG ENDS WITH THE BOYS SAYING “thou shall not fall” AS MICHAEL FALLS ONTO HIS BED IN HIS ROOM. the cinematography of this scene is immaculate

- “BITE ME” (michael to sam) “oh michael, stop that” (lucy) i love their dynamic. my little babies

- sam helping lucy pick her shoes is fabulous

- “sorry, mike, not all of us are cool enough to hang out with twisted sister” is definitely a sam highlight. fuck it all scenes with sam are highlights. actually fuck that all scenes in this are highlights

- michael and his sassy sunglasses and earring makes my soul happy

- “ONLY ONE PERSON CAN PULL OFF A SINGLE EARRING” as sam reveals the huge rob lowe poster in his closet. me too sam, me too

- the frog brothers are so cunty i love it

- the leftovers that michael eats are out of one of those chinese takeout boxes!!!! AND in the boys’ lair, you see another box on a table. love the homage to that scene since it wasnt included

- OK SO WHEN SAM READS THE COMIC THAT THE FROG BROTHERS GIVE HIM, MICHAEL STARTS EXPERIENCING ALL THE VAMPIRE SYMPTOMS AS SAM READS THEM OUT FROM THE BOOK. the parallel is kinda crazy perfect. also, this is when they start singing “secret comes out”

- michael’s visions of his dad make me wanna cry. it is kinda abrupt but adds an element

- ALSO HIS DAD DISAPPEARS AND IN HIS PLACE IS SAM. it is very emotional

- also david is just singing away as this happens in the emerson household and then he flies. he is a vibe

- MICHAEL STARTS FLYING AND DAVID IS JUST SINGING “MICHAELLLL” ALL ANGSTY

- david’s expressions are so perfect.

- the end of act 1 is fucking great

ACT TWO:

- sam’s song “my brother is a…” is real gold

- ALSO during his song two girly vampires randomly show up (not like actually) but you see them and they are apart of the ensemble. its funny

- the frogs in the song are GREAT. i honestly love the frogs more than i thought

- “WE’RE GONNA KILL YOUR BRO, WOAHHHH”

- i like the song “wild”, but in comparison to the rest of the show, it still falls a tad short. but, i do find it necessary for lucy and her character. i also LOVE shoshana bean, tho!!!

- lucy and max are kinda cute in a vomit kind of way. like that’s my QUEEN. get away from her.

- shoshana bean is such a talent. i cant say that enough. fuck, the whole cast is outstanding

- max singing “wild” with lucy as if he isn’t actually WILD. like that guy is crazy. YOU ARE WILD ALREADY BROCHACHO? greedy mf

- when the reprise of “belong to someone” starts again i perked right tf up

- david freezing time for michael for the first time is intimate i cant explain why tho

- “no! michael! i didnt trick you, i saved you” david says as he wraps his hands around michael’s face very romantically

- david stop caressing michael’s chin please it’s turning everyone on

- the boys singing with david is so precious like yes one direction!

- after they sing the “belong to someone” reprise is when shit gets real. and by that i mean vampire action

- ok so the bonfire scene *is* different: david is talking to michael and tells him that he must take the last step as they transition to what i think is the beach? then dwyane (i think its dwayne) asks the surfers “how was the surfing today, fellas?” and marko says something else, to which one of the surfers asks “is there a problem here, man?”. there is a bit more bickering, and then one of the surfers claims that they are not looking for any trouble, to which david very sassily responds with “neither are we, friend. we’re just, hungry!”. marko points at david and echos with “starving!!!!” and then it actually happens. if i am correct, marko spills first blood by slicing someone’s throat, and dwayne kinda tackles that body (aww vampire boyfriends) and then *i think* that some of the other surfers begin to freak out and scramble. david grabs the surfer who he was addressing and cuts her (i think), then leaves her as he begins talking to michael, to which marko swoops in and grabs her neck and pulls her away. NOW THIS is when david gives his whole speech: “you’ll never grow old, michael. and you’ll never die. but you MUST feed.” then david continues by saying “freedom isnt something your handed, it’s something you take.” this is said while he comes behind one of the dying surfers who is choking on his knees. michael rushes over and grabs his wrist, but hesitates, prompting david to yell “he’s suffering michael - end it!”. however, michael chickens out at the last moment, saying “i cant!!!!” and he drops the surfers wrist and runs off. david finishes off the surfer, draining him.

- as you know, i absolutely fucking LOVE any scene with my vamps, so this works for me. but, i do wish there was more bloodshed. maybe i am a greedy mf after all….

- the transition from the feeding scene to “you belong to me” is a bit abrupt, especially since it begins with michael’s dad

- i do really like “you belong to me” ESPECIALLY the ending!!!!!! it ends with michael trust-falling into a pit which is really cool. kinda like his “rock bottom” in a way?

- david and star’s scene kinda breaks my heart cause like that’s half of my threesome right there! but in all seriousness, their dynamic is really interesting. it’s not really dating (obviously) but it’s almost kinda similar? like not in a super romantic way, but almost like it wants to be? it feels like a very vampiric, pack-dyanmic type situation. but it’s also more complex because david clearly saved her from her past life and helped her, but why would he do that? what about star was so enticing back then (which had to have been recently considering that she is still a half vampire and has still not fed yet) that is not enticing any more? did it start off romantically, and just fizzled out? or was this a full pack decision (which it doesn’t seem like to me)? david isn’t really thirsting after star in the same yearning way that he does for michael. like david actually wants michael sexually (yes i said that) but only wants star to feed so that she can become a full vampire. with michael, he had the motivation from star, his own sex glands (someone @ sam), and likely max. but what about star, where does that motivation come from??? idk, just something to think about

- “i gave you michael” OK DAVID YOU GAVE YOURSELF MICHAEL. that is the equivalent of me saying that i gave myself a mental health day because i skipped a lecture ??? king of circular reasoning btw.

- then david says something about them both taking the last step, and that if they did, a “world of happiness could be [ours]”. vampire polyamory strikes again i see

- the whole star x michael x david thing is gonna run me into the ground i swear

- obviously “war” is good, but it’s not my super favorite. with a lot of the solo songs, i guess i just prefer the group ones! sorry i want my happy family…….. but star is fantastic so i am in no way mad!!! (also keep in mind that this bootleg has the order of “war” first and then “mom’s boyfriend is a…”

- also star is so hot

- “FIVE MINUTES LATE AND YOU MISS THE LAST CHOPPER OUT OF SAIGON” this was so funny to me maybe i am brainrotted idk

- wait why is edgar frog kinda fine tho

- wait i love alan

- the frog brothers thinking that ronald reagan could be the head vampire is one of the best things that the musical brought us

- “wait! your mom’s boning her boss????”

- the frogs have great comedic timing when figuring out that max could be the head vamp. i adore them

- ok in all seriousness i have a big fat crush on edgar

- sam and the frogs are one of the best groups of teenagers doing random bullshit cause wdym they are going over to sam’s house for dinner and to kill his mom’s boyfriend. like disney channel could NEVER have thought of that.

- the dinner scene is so ridiculous i love it

- EDGAR SAYING A PRAYER AT DINNER IS FUCKING GOLD

- “DOES IT BURN, BITCH?” SAM EMERSON!

- whenever michael and star fight i feel unstable

- during the reprise of “lose yourself” when star and michael sing together, there is lots of touching and tension and love between them and then they kiss at the end!!!! and it’s great! and david is probably killing half of california in pure anger but that’s ok!

- i don’t know how to feel about the song “michael” cause on one hand i love the emotion, but on the other it feels almost out of place??? i honestly don’t know what to say about it because i think it’s important but i don’t know if that was the right moment or way to go about it, if that makes sense? yet again, i love shoshana bean, so it’s obviously not bad at all

- unpopular opinion that i can now speak on (bc this version hadnt cut it yet) is that “brother” is actually a good song. i think that it fits and idc i want it back. maybe i’m biased, but anything that includes david and the boys or sam and michael is automatically a favorite. i think they should have kept it.

- ALSO MORE REASONS WHY I LIKED IT AND THOUGHT THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT IT: you get to see more of the boys!!!!!!!! for example, they are singing together, and you actually see paul and david cuddle up a bit, which really connected the whole pack thing for me, because now at this point, david has some of his signature touchy feely action with each of the boys at least once.

- also sam and michael singing together was emotional. my babies

- this whole story is filled with my all time favorite dynamics and any time i see any of them on screen/stage i go crazy

- dwayne’s tattoo being actually relevant to the plot is kinda cool to me. like sam realizes that his tattoo says “coronado” and then him and the frogs are like “the band!!!” and then they realize

- sam also kinda continues to fangirl over dwayne being attractive: “of course! my brother had been hanging out with those creeps. one of them had a bunch of tattoos…. a symmetrical face, a dimpled chin, a strong jaw…” SAM JUST LIKE ME FR

- edgar responding to that with “DAMN, you got an eye for a lot of things” is so cute

- “WE’RE THE GOD DAMN FROG BROTHERS” i love my trio

- sam’s song “superpower” is so necessary for my baby. it’s kinda funny but i love it

- THE SAX GUY COMING BACK DURING SAME’S SONG IS SO GREAT

- sam being queer is a full circle moment for me

- THE BOYS ARE ACTUALLY UPSIDE DOWN THAT IS FUCKING SICK

- ok marko being stabbed made me sad. dont touch my baby.

- michael saying “i told you, stay away from my brother” to david and dwayne immediately responding with “marko was your brother” kinda broke me ngl. we skipped over that WAY too quickly. that line is an essential for me

- when michael and star (and the frogs) leave in the sunlight so the boys can’t follow, david starts singing. AND BOY does he start singing. then paul and dwayne chime in and i got all sad cause my polycule is not whole.

- struggling to move past marko’s death cause like i cant do anything now the gang is incomplete. they wanna continue but help im still at the restaurant

- i still love edgar tho (but like MARKO)

- “no more monsters” is kinda badass ugh

- that one clip from sean’s (dwaynes actor) insta that’s like paul saying “no monsters for you, kid” anyways

- i loathe you max. leave lucy ALONE

- the drops about their dad every now and then are lowkey devastating. stop making me reflect

- OK BUT NOW MORE ACTION

- it begins with dwayne walking in and punching michael across the face. sam screams “MIKE!” to which dwayne responds with “i’m saving him for david, but you, you’re mine.” WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE SAVING MICHAEL FOR DAVID. AWW WHAT A NICE BOYFRIEND

- i love that dwayne and sam kinda stand there and talk for a second arguing instead of trying to i dont know kill each other

- awwwwwww paul says “YOU KILLED MARKO! YOU’RE NEXT!” like in the movie was sweet but sad. also it’s kinda funny to watch big boy paul fight the two frog dweebs. also paul is winning the fight for a hot second???? he also says something about like “do you wanna die?” and “do you know how it feels?” which is kinda sad. the frog brothers do sync up though, and end up pushing paul into the bathtub, which turns red and smokes and my other baby dies.

- then we resume back to dwayne and he says something along the lines of “no one here to protect you now” but the the fucking stereo turns on and starts playing one of the best songs ever, “i think we’re alone now” by tiffany. this fucking song. THIS FUCKING SONG WITH MY FAVORITE BOY ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS FELT LIKE A PERSONAL ATTACK I AM HEARTBROKEN.

- he does turn the stereo off and says “what are you gonna do now???? YOU THINK YOU’RE TOUGH CAUSE YOU KILLED MY BROTHER? YOU’RE NOTHING BUT A LITTLE PANSY.”

- “WRONG. I’M A PANSY WITH A CROSSBOW”

- yes yes great line sam i love you but you littallly just killed my boyfriend so i think it’s time for some silent reflection.

- everyone clapping but my boys are DEAD

- i still ADORE the “death by stereo” line tho. definitely one of my favorite lines

- AFTER ALL THAT, david comes swooping in from the fucking window

- “I TRIED TO MAKE YOU IMMORTAL” “YOU TRIED TO MAKE ME A KILLER” oh the angst

- star and david’s catty vampireness i love it

- star freezes time!!!!!! david does not cave even when she says that she will surrender. he is not gonna corporate, and while holding her chin very sensually “my blood is in his veins. he belongs to me”. UGH. instead of having a happy romantic ending, michael responds with “no i don’t” and stakes david (at least in this version)

- this felt anticlimactic in a way. i feel like david’s fight needed more. it felt too quick. my baby needed to go out with a bigger bang.

- lucy and max coming back to crash the party

- MAX CALLS DAVID “HIS SON”

- which could mean anything…. but…..

- “I CAN RAISE MY KIDS ON MY OWN, ASSHOLE” YESSSS LUCY

- in this version, lucy kills max with a cross/stake thing to the heart

- oh my babies

- sam saying that the frogs are family was so cute

- OK SO FOR “IF WE MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT” EVERYONE SINGS SO THE BOYS AND MAX COME BACK ON STAGE FOR THE END OF IT. THE WHOLE FUCKING THING ENDS WITH MAX PUTTING A HAND ON DAVID’S SHOULDER AND THEN DAVID TILTS HIS HEAD BACK TO LOOK AT HIM AND THEN IT ENDS. OH MY GOD.
