Some quick original aliens doodles I did during lunch today- I’m slowly trying to re-design my alien species to reduce the number of them with ‘human’ five fingered hands with thumbs, and five-toed feet. I’m fairly happy with a  lot of the other features, but I’m having a harder time being happy with alien-looking hand setups. They instinctively look weird, but having all these varied aliens who all inexplicably have perfect human hands looks -just- as weird pfff.

crocatiels still have the hands but I went into more detail on their semi-zygodactyl feet, and Calliopae are more like koalas or chameleons in terms of their hands now!

Some revamp sketches of an old alien species of mine! 

My very first ‘original’ work when I was a wee weeaboo who wanted to work in The Animes involved some almost completely generic Space Elves. Nowadays I’d probably be making bug aliens or something, but I wanted to give them another shot! They’ve been through a few revamp attempts, and this is still a bit of a hodgepodge but right now we have:

Species is evolved from something a bit lagomorphic or rodent-like. They produce litters of several, very small offspring because of this.

Back when, I thought I was being edgy by making the males the more femme ones that nurse the young. It makes for some interesting biology notes though, so why not keep it? I can also gross everyone out with babies stuck to some man tiddies.

There are different genetic and cultural ethnicities based on whether or not the populace adapted to a more flatland or highland based lifestyle, with resulting sun exposure and air quality levels etc.

The planet’s landmass is made of more island chains and less continents than Earth, and many of the landmasses have unique cultures and their own governing bodies, making centralised government fairly difficult sometimes.

They were originally named after the muse of inspiration and creativity, Calliope. Just with one extra letter to make it sound like a scientific term (Calliopae). No idea if I’m keeping this because they’ve been tagged so consistently with it, or if I’ll change it to something more original and less easy to confuse with Homestuck’s green cinnamon roll. 

females kick the crap out of each other with those horns and grow fancy ornamented ears. The men get hot and bothered by the most badass females and want to rear their babies. A+
