@caletyson at #theanchorfellowship @americanafest was the perfect way to wrap up my last night here. There's something about #countrymusic played in a church that feels just right. ⛪️🙏🏼❤️🎶🎸✝ #americanafest #caletyson #nashville (at The Anchor)

Cale Tyson "Traveling Man" RIYL: Andrew Combs, Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Marty Robbins
Cale Tyson is a native Texan from Forth Worth, but currently makes Nashville his home. He posted this song last week, and I've been replaying the video ever since. I'm assuming it's a new song, as I've never heard it before, and damn, I can't wait for more (here's another new one I'm loving). I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a recorded version of this song. It tells a great story and is accompanied by beautiful guitar playing and harmonies. It reminds me of Townes Van Zandt.
His slight nasal warble is a sound for sore ears, if you will, and makes me nostalgic for country legends who've come before him. With a very authentic sound, I have no doubt that his next record will be prime. Check out his most recent EP, High On Lonesome for a time warp, full of barroom jukebox waltzes and slow two-steppers. I personally dig the hell out of Is The Flame Burning Low?, Long Gone Girl and Old Time Blues. As he so perfectly puts it, he's been blessed with a true "honky tonk moan."
Keep an eye out for this guy. He's taking his love for the traditional side of music and funneling it into his own. He's got a skill for writing in a simple, "why didn't I think of that" style, comparable to Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. If you like it, please support him by buying his music, so he can keep putting out songs that are worthy of all your ears.
