3. Top 5 Soundtracks

   O, Brother Where Art Thou?  - It is so beautifully perfect.  I can’t even begin otherwise I will rant for hours about how amazing and the amount of thought that went into it.     Guardians of the Galaxy - I’ve been listening to this one a lot lately because it’s just so fun and happy.   Django Unchained - This soundtrack impresses me so much.  As much as I am often put off by films that don’t use period-appropriate music, I haven’t ever expected Tarantino to and the music just works so well with the film that I don’t mind.   The Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou - If only for Seu Jorge’s fucking brilliant covers of David Bowie.   The Blues Brothers - Okay, so I feel like I’m cheating a bit including basically two musicals on here, but whatever.  This soundtrack is amazing and I could listen to it forever so yeah.

8. 5 Movies that Changed My Life (oh god how do I narrow this down so many films have ;_; )    Casablanca - My opinion of it has only grown of this film since I first saw it years ago, and I don’t care the hype it has because it deserves it.    Monty Python and the Holy Grail - While I don’t know if it was really life changing, I’m glad my mom shared it with me when I was younger and introduced me to such a different style of humor that I think was a big influence on my later tastes in film.     Paprika - Still one of my favorite movies of all time and blew my mind when I watched it.      The Gaucho (1927) - I’ve seen a lot of amazing silent films in the past couple years that have made me simply love early film so much.  And as easily as I could name the first time seeing The General as really impressionable, I have to share The Gaucho, because it’s one less people will likely have seen.  It was the first Douglas Fairbanks film I ever saw and I loved it.  It sort of the mark of the decline in his film career, but I love it all the same and certainly made me love and appreciate him.    The Public Enemy - It was the second film I watched in the only film class I took in undergrad and I remember watching it and realizing I wanted to work and study and do something with films for the rest of my life.  And then also realizing I could.  :)

15. Top 5 Comedy    Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Dark comedy, but comedy nonetheless, and also a great neo-noir.    Sherlock Jr. - If anyone ever tells me silent films are not funny anymore or not impressive, I throw this at them because it’s all those things.    Arsenic and Old Lace - Could also go on my list of films that changed my life.  So funny and also Peter Lorre is so precious and wonderful.   Hot Fuzz (frankly the whole Cornetto Trilogy) - ‘nough said (because I could say too much.)   O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Yes it’s coming back because it is hilarious okay.  

24. Top 5 Adaptations of Books/Plays    Hamlet (1921) - The best Hamlet ever, hands down.  Asta Nielsen is such an impressive and stunning actress she needs more attention than she gets right now.   Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - I couldn’t imagine a more perfect adaptation of the comics.   Much Ado About Nothing (2012) - Funny, well-done, and all around entertaining.   To Kill a Mockingbird - One of those films that I continually am impressed by.  (bonus: ultimate hot dad Atticus Finch.)   The Shining - I honestly can’t think of another off the top of my head, but I love this movie and it’s an adaptation so it counts.
