Tonight we celebrated my #father - Atty. Joan P. Basco's 40th day which tradition dictates is when the departed ascends into heaven mirroring Jesus's #ascension. Tomorrow my family will be going home to #Cagayan - his birthplace in honor of him to what he so lovingly looks forward to every year. Despite his condition then he endured the long travel for a chance to be with his mother and to refresh his spirit in the land of his childhood. Of the many virtues he had, he was a proud #Cagayano and a proud #Ibanag. He was as many Cagayanos are - people of the river. We grew up in his stories of happy childhood of his simple life by the river. I honor you dad for you are now in a better place and if i now picture what heaven would be like, it will be you sitting by its riverbanks.
