When will he be back? When will he step into the café? When will I be allowed again to take his order, as if it were the most important thing in the world?

Don’t rush anything. I like his smile, the three sentences between us — a ritual no one else notices. I know he likes me.

So I wait.

Wann ist er wieder da? Wann betritt er das Café? Wann darf ich wieder seine Bestellung annehmen, als wäre es das Wichtigste der Welt?

Nichts überstürzen. Ich mag sein Lächeln, die drei Sätze zwischen uns – ein Ritual, das niemand sonst bemerkt. Ich weiß, er mag mich.
