A Roses and Champagne fanfic...
Uncanny endearment🌹
Sasha Sergeyev x desi!reader
Reader might be plump.
After reader was abandoned at the altar by Caeser and Lee Won, her hand was held by someone Uncanny...
divider credits: @strangergraphics
CW: Angst with comfort, reader was used, self doubt, self deprecation.
Frost wilted roses...
That is what you held at the altar, waiting patiently for your grooms.
But they never came.
It's been 3 long hours and Russia's wintery cold began chipping away at your warm form.
But your heart was ablaze with wait.
"Caeser will come..." "Lee Won will come too...Lee Won will never leave me alone." you told yourself as you heard the guests leaving.
But nothing.
Suddenly you remembered your mother's words the day you purchased this white lehenga.
"Safhed rang tujhe shoba nahi dengi beti...dusra rang lo." (The white lehenga won't suit you, choose another color)
But you were so fixated on everything being perfect, you ignored her.
Perhaps she was right. You should have chosen a beige one or maybe a completely different color, perhaps pink or the traditional red.
But would it change this outcome? Caeser was not here neither was Lee Won.
Your greatest fear had come true...You were abandoned by the men you loved most.
"Child, they're not coming, cease your waiting and go home." The pastor advised, his voice was full of worry for your well-being.
"Nahi...They promised me that they'll come...I have full faith in them...If not Caeser, My Lee Won will come." You choked out with a cheerful smile.
"But my child, you'll freeze to death in this cold."
"I won't father, I have weathered worse storms than this."
The pastor shook his head and sat down. He waited with you.
Your cellphone buzzed to life with a message that made your heart sink.
"I cannot marry you Malysh... Don't turn up to the venue."
It was from Caeser's number, it was a scheduled message. It was a planned no show.
The saliva in your mouth felt like acid, burning down your throat as you swallowed.
Your heart clenched.
Suddenly everything made sense.
The missed dates, the insistence of theirs for you to move back to India by your parents, Lee Won's glances of pity.
You were Caeser's sick experiment.
And you foolishly went along with everything... because you loved them.
But they didn't... that's why you were here, alone and shivering in the cold.
You slowly got up to leave. You felt ridiculed.
Everything was a silent mock.
The decorations that you spent hours alone selecting, your lehenga which was the colour of death.
This so called 'union' was a joke... Caeser's joke on you.
And yet...
Sasha sat right behind you, sipping his whiskey out of his canister, taking in your appearance in silence.
"Sergeyev-saahib." You murmured as you trembled.
Tears fell from your eyes finally, crystallising on your cold skin.
The older male stood before you now, gazing at your frozen tears and sorrowful state.
He warned you that Caeser was not to be trusted. Sure he and Lee Won loved you. What made silly you think they'd marry you?
But Sasha silently reached out to you, holding your chin inbetween his thumb and index finger.
"Don't cry little rani." He began in a low tone, addressing you endearingly. "My son is not worthy of these tears neither is that pretty boy he calls his lover."
You gaze at him, feeling no less than a lamb before a wolf and yet, there was a flicker of warmth in his eye.
"What do I do now?" You asked Sasha sadly. "I severed all ties with my family. There is no roof over my head and the men I thought loved me have cast me out...What do I do now?" you cry in the end and drop the bouquet.
Sasha remains silent again. He feels your broken sobs on his chest. He turned to the pastor.
"Get your arse at the podium father." He commanded sternly.
The pastor became confused. "But the grooms aren't here Mr Sergeyev." He murmured but, when this wolfish man pointed his gun at him, the man nearly shat himself as he stood at the podium.
Sasha picked up your bouquet and set it back in your hands.
"Listen to me rani...you are going to walk down that aisle...your groom is here." He says and motions to himself as he stands where his son is supposed to.
You wanted to protest and say that this was wrong but, the words die out in your throat.
You do it anyway. Your fears silenced every sound of rationality in your head.
'Tsar's bride' played now instead of 'Here comes the Bride'.
Every step you took towards him, your anklets chimed as the wind tried its best to blow over your pallu.
But it's stayed fixed over you, shielding you from the painful betrayal you felt.
Once opposite him, the pastor began with the vows.
"Do you Sasha Sergeyev-
"I do."
The pastor shivered in fear and turned to you.
"Do you Y/n L/n take this man, Sasha Sergeyev as your lawful wedded husband in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"
Your blink away your tears and gazed at him through your veil.
"I do..." You answered.
"You may exchange rings and kiss the bride."
Sasha chuckled. He lifted your veil and smiled down at you as he lifted your cold plump hand and slipped a ring onto your finger.
You do the same, lifting his rather muscular hand slipping one of the 2 rings on his finger.
Before you could release his hand, Sasha leaned down, placing a tender kiss upon your forehead, just above your bindi.
It was nothing like the searing and demanding kisses Caeser gave her neither was it like the soft kisses and touches of Lee Won but, this was softer with a promise of respect and something greater...
"I don't expect lovey dovey kisses and touches from you..." He whispered against your maangtikka.
You gaze up at him as he slowly pulled away.
"I married you to give you power...Use it well my rani...how do they say it your tongue?...Ahhhh, Maharani." He says with a smile in the end.
A smile full of promise of chaos that was yet to come.
You didn't even hear the pastor pronounce you both man and wife.
Sasha was already leading you away with your marriage certificate in hand.
After seating you in the car and wrapping a fur coat around you, he held you close to his side.
"Straight home." He says to the driver as he held a cigar to his lips. He struggled to light it with one hand.
*click*
*click*
*click*
Nothing, the blasted lighter refused to ignite his cigar.
But then, you take the lighter from him and with a single click, you lit the cigar for him.
He was pleased...very pleased.
"My maharani..." He whispered with a smile and took a drag of his cigar.
"Don't worry, I'll be there to catch you when you fall." He mused to you and kissed your cheek.
You silently leaned towards him. Was it for comfort? You didn't know.
This was going to be your life now...The former Tsar's young bride.
He was your partner, your pati.
And by the gods, you were scared to death by the path you chose....
I deserve a first class kick
If this trends, I'll do a part 02. ✨

Part 3
Synopsis: Whilst Leewon feels guilt over abandoning you at the altar, Sasha makes a startling declaration to you.
Divider credits: @strangergraphics
C/w: age gap marriage, mentions of sexual conduct, mentions of bets, Sasha Sergeyev himself.
Elsewhere: At Caeser's mansion.
Sweat, gasps and the scent of whiskey lingered in the air...
Leewon laid on Caeser's chest feeling down and out after a round of their usual intimacy.
He wasn't as responsive as he usually was even when they were intimate. Caeser noticed this.
"You're sad because we never go marry her aren't you?" the Tsar asked prompting Leewon to shake his head yes.
"She loved us and we just... abandoned her." Leewon trailed off before getting off Caeser.
"All because of Dmitri and that stupid bet." Leewon muttered angrily as he recalled the night he and Caeser met you, just a few hours prior to meeting you.
Dmitri was sitting with them as they downed bottles of whiskey and vodka. Seeing how close Leewon and Caeser were, the younger man was jealous so he came up with a dare.
"The first girl to come in through those doors, you will date her for 2 years otherwise you two break up for a month...I dare you." He voiced up to Caeser mischievously.
Unable to stay away from Leewon, Caeser agreed on the condition that Leewon will also date the girl, not knowing that this would be his mistake later...
Many men came through the doors first.
Some old, some young, some looking like sewer rats.
And then, came you with your friends.
Innocent tiny you, plump like a peach, dressed far too modestly to be in a club. You were clearly a good girl. The way you carried yourself said so too.
"I haven't been in a club before." You marvelled as you took in the beauty of the neon lights, loud music and the scent of alcohol.
You felt rebellious but also, a part of you felt anxious. Your friends felt that.
"Chillax girl...No one will recognise you here." Your friend, Anastasia laughed out as she led you to the bar.
After a few drinks, you were tipsy and that was when Caeser made his move. A few sweet words from him and Leewon had you melting and soon, you were their girl.
No, you refused to sleep with them in fear of your strict parents and traditions.
Even your father made it clear to them.
"No sex before marriage....Girls from this family will indulge in no such thing... consider it a privilege that I am letting both of you date her." Your papa scolded them.
"We will respect your decision Mr L/n..." Leewon chimed at the old man as he held Caeser back from ripping out his throat.
So that's how your bond with them were. Nothing sexual, kisses and cuddles yes but nothing more.
You 3 were happy but now without you, everything felt wrong.
"I need some air." Leewon murmured angrily as he untangled himself from Caeser and limped to the balcony as he put on his gown.
Yet as he stood under the night sky, Leewon only could think of your kohl lined orbs and gentle kisses. His heart throbbed.
How could he do such a thing to you?
Caeser on the other hand felt nothing. Not even a small bit of regret for leaving you at the altar.
He saw his Leewon falling for you, a bet.
A silly bet.
It was your fault for thinking he meant everything he said. You should have gotten the hint that he didn't WANT you when you planned the wedding alone.
But seeing Leewon worried for you made him jealous.
"Come here Leewon..." He beckoned his lover but, Leewon didn't budge.
Even as the snow fell on his skin, Leewon wondered if you were okay and if you'd atleast forgive him....
-----
Elsewhere, Sasha silently watched you discreetly as you spent your time sketching whilst he was working on some documentation.
Your hair was still neatly bound back, your gajra now wilted at the ends from the room temperature. A small smile formed on your face as you completed your sketch and blew on the page to remove the pencil nib shavings.
"What did my little maharani sketch hmn?" He asked amusedly.
You freeze up for a moment, definitely from his calling name for you, before turning the sketchbook to him. You had done nothing more than capture the study's stillness on the page.
Including Sasha...
You sketched him in his chair, reading over his documents. You got everything right about him. His eyepatch, the crow's feet near his eyes and frown.
Sasha was pleased. He took the book from your hands, admiring the artwork before smiling at you. "My maharani has her ways with her hands in art too?...I'll toast to that." He teased you.
You looked at him, startled.
"What game are you playing Sasha?" You couldn't help but ask as he set the sketchbook back in your lap.
"You first say hurtful things about me to Caeser but then you marry me when he abandoned me... You tell me to expect a loveless marriage yet now, you tease me and playfully address me...What is this mess we're in?" You asked with giant pools of tears forming in your eyes.
You wanted answers. You couldn't keep this 'act' on.
It's only been a day married to this man and you felt like you were walking on eggshells every moment around him due to his earlier behaviour towards you.
Your questions needed answers...
Answers that Sasha was happily going to give you.
"I didn't think you were good for my son the moment I set my eyes on you Y/n," he began as he took a seat beside you, "When I first saw your photo, I knew God made a mistake by sending you to my son..."
You felt your breath hitch as he continued.
"You were a paradise that men like me rejected in our heyday to pursue the crown at the top...I never meant those harsh words I said to you before, I did however hope that it would deter you from choosing to wed my son and son-in-law."
Sasha paused and frowned.
"But if I knew before that they were going to do this to you, I would've stolen you away myself."
He took your henna stained palms into his calloused ones.
"You weren't meant for my son Y/n. He is dumb fuck who cannot see beyond his nose, Leewon or his pride." He kissed your knuckles, "You were meant for me and now, you are with me."
His words knocked the air out of you. Out of every answer you hoped he'd give, him wanting you was a response you would have initially found absurd.
The worst part of this was the fact that he could see your confusion. He could see you had more questions and he waited for you to ask them.
However, when he saw how you were tongue-tied, he let go of you and stood up. "Go rest maharani... I'll wait for your questions later." He said to you as he headed to his study table.
You did as he commanded, with no complaints...
You went off to your room and sat in your grand chair near the fireplace. You didn't know how to feel about your husband's endearment towards you.
"He hated me before...he really did." You told yourself but then, his words echoed in your head again.
"You were meant for me and now, you are with me."
You groan in annoyance and bury your face in your pillow. You wanted to hit him and scream at him, ask him what he meant and what he wanted all along.
But you knew that all those questions, all that rage and this temper of yours hides behind your pallu the moment your gaze met his.
"Asura..." You grumbled angrily as you gazed at his photo...
This was overdue 😭. Part 4 is in the works.
Maybe I should also do short passages too...but I don't know.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Don't hold back girls!

Sweetened coffee and cake...
That was what you and Sasha silently ate in his warm mansion.
The wedding cake you were supposed to eat with Caeser and LeeWon was now being eaten by you and your 'new' husband.
Soft vanilla sponge cake with fresh cream and edible gold dust highlighting the lace-like designs on the white cake. Red roses dunked in sugar syrup decorated the top elegantly.
"You did the cake tasting alone?" Sasha asked you as he set aside his empty saucer, subtly motioning his butler to cut him another piece.
You shook your head yes, slowly lifting your gaze to meet him.
"They were busy with work that day." You answered timidly. Honestly, you felt stupid.
There was literally so many red flags in your relationship with the duo but you ignored it all.
Your train-of-self-deprecating-thought crashed when you hear Sasha let out a hum of approval.
He ate the cake with whiskey and he was enjoying it too.
"Wouldn't this all clash with your medicine?" You asked him with a hint of worry in your already strained voice.
He shot you a glare which made you shut up but then he smiled, definitely at your reaction.
"Relax maharani...I don't take medication, that's for weaker men." Sasha chuckled out and reached out for you to go to him.
You do so.
When you reached him, he took your hands into his and placed a kiss atop them.
"I want you to go take a nice warm bath and rest in the ladies wing...You've been through enough today." He whispers to you warmly.
His sudden care to you was baffling considering he majorly opposed the wedding when it was in talks.
"She's too short."
"She's not Russian."
"She isn't worthy of being a Tsarina yet."
"You can do much better."
But now, here he was pampering you. Forget pampering, he was the one that married you. It definitely was the guilt right?
And yet, you see a spark in his eye...a glimmer of warmth only when he spoke to you.
"Just what do you want from me Sasha?" You asked as you were now in your bathing chambers, soaking the jasmine scented warmth from the waters.
Your hair was open and damp, sticking to your face and back as you sigh in exhaustion.
Your husband was confusing you the more you thought about him. He was like a spider and you, a butterfly getting further tangled into his web.
"Perhaps some sleep will be good." you thought to yourself as you rose from the water, dried yourself and headed to bed.
You put on your pale blue nighties then slipped into your bed soundly. You closed your eyes and drifted to sleep, wondering what exactly your groom wants from you.
.
.
.
Sasha on the other hand laid silently in his bed, pondering over what had transpired that day.
His coward of a son and son-in-law abandoned you at the altar, something he predicted long before this happened and now, he married you.
Not that he was complaining or anything, you were a sweet girl. He may have said harsh things before to try and get you to leave his son and Lee Won but, you refused to remove your rose tinted glasses.
You loved those idiots so much that it hurt the older man when you were abandoned by them.
He gazed at the photo Caeser sent of you when you just began going out with him and Lee Won.
Oh, how elegant you were to Sasha's sore eye.
You were seated in your garden, dressed in a pink net saree with gold borders and designs. Your hands were adorned with pink and gold bangles, a gajra pinned in your hair.
"Maharani-sa..." He couldn't help but whisper as he gazed at that enchanting smile on your face. "As my wife...I won't let you cry, at least over my son again."
The man powered off his phone and closed his eyes, relaxing his racing mind and thinking about his new wife and her sweet smile.
God...he was whipped for you but, he'll never admit that now would he?
.
.
.
The next morning, Sasha woke up early.
Usually he would smell nothing but the burnt cigars and whiskey in his room but today, he smelled something rather pleasant.
Rose, cardamom and milk...
Curious, Sasha got up, bathed and dressed before coming to the kitchens. The servants are usually not up this early.
But there you were...his wife, wide awake and cooking.
Forget cooking, the way you looked that morning took his breath away.
You wore a orange and gold banarasi silk saree. Your damp hair was gripped up and body adorned with light jewellery.
"Do you always have time to decorate yourself like this maharani?" Sasha called from behind you with amusement.
You froze up for a moment before turning to him.
"I do..." You answered meekly prompting Sasha to smile as he took in the sight of your flushed cheeks and startled expression.
He silently sat on the nearby chair as you continued cooking, with a slight tense in your form that wasn't there earlier.
"Don't tremble so much maharani... The milk pudding would curdle in offense."
He stood up and left after saying that, surprising you.
"Did he just tease you?!"
Oh yes he did!
Unbeknownst to you, the man was gazing down at that photo of you on his cellphone, laughing to himself as he recalled your red cheeks and startled expression.
"My silly maharani... You have so much to learn." He whispered as he powered off his phone upon reaching his study.
Dmitri Sergeyev awaited him there.
"Greetings Unc-
"Have you contacted Caeser?" Sasha cut him off as he snipped off the end of his cigar and lit it. He secretly smiled as he recalled how you lit his cigar for him the previous day.
Dmitri on the other hand, frowned upon the mentioning of Caeser. "He's unreachable from yesterday." He answered guiltily. "It's like he ran off with Lee Won..."
Sasha remained stoic for a moment, only a moment before placing his gun on the table.
"I don't care how...if you don't get a hold of that useless son of mine or his boyfriend, I will have you strung outside naked in the snow... My wife needs answers from them."
Dmitri trembled from the coldness in his uncle's voice. That threat was enough to send shivers down his spine.
"I'll do my best uncle..." He finally answered Sasha and bowed respectfully. "I'll take your leave now...Take care."
And after saying that, he was gone to look for Caeser and Lee Won.
Sasha smirked.
He had a sinister plan ready for Caeser if you grant him the permission to carry it out.
"You and Jeong Lee Won love each other so much to leave behind your wife...no worries, no I'll make you bow to the Tzarina of the Sergeyev mafia."
As I said, Part 3 is in the works...check out the mood boards I created for our desi! Y/n.
