“My lady, why do you look so sad?”

The queen in question opened her eyes slowly and gave a tiny smirk.

“...Don’t I always look like this?”

Reina frowned, lifting her head off Caeruleus’ lap. She reached her hand forward, hesitating to touch her face, before looking into her crimson eyes.

“No,” she paused, tilting her head. “Usually you don’t look as distressed.”

Caeruleus smiled gently, patting the blonde’s head with a sigh. “I can’t hide anything from you, can I?”

“No, you cannot.” Reina replied bluntly. “I was trained to notice when others are lying.”

The bluenette gave a soft grin- she truly did turn out to be a wonderful retainer. She wished she had found her sooner, perhaps Reina could’ve lived a normal life. But the thought of having thrown her into society with the way it was now...

“If there ever came a time where we need worry not of war, will you still stay beside me?” The queen asked quietly, even though she already knew the answer.
