Amelia carded her fingers through her fiery tresses as she tossed her hair up into a half-bun. Her mind had been a silent, desolate place since Jay’s funeral and there was no hope of any of that changing any time soon. She just needed to see Cael before she completely fell into a pit of desolation.

Amelia hadn’t been at work in weeks and Noah was sure to be pissed about being left alone for so long, or perhaps he was finally pleased with his situation. Either way, Amelia was not in a good place and work was not going to help. Not when her desk remained across form Jay’s.

With a sigh, Amelia knocked on Ms. Alford’s door, hoping the woman was at work and she would be able to talk to Cael alone.

“Cael, it’s me. Detect- It’s Amelia.”
