Feeling Sick - Caddimoose
this is a little fic i wrote. i was sorta inspired to start by someone that i recently have become friends with ( @twilightjoltik-toumei ) and... idk just felt like putting my writing ability to the test!! this isn't very good and i haven't written very many stories in my life but, here you go!!
Ian walked in, spotting Caddy in his bed. Caddy didn't seem to have heard him come in, but Ian didn't feel the need to alert him. The thing was, that night, all of Hidden Block was getting together and spending the night in Jeff's room, which was also Ian's room. Tonight they were practicing for the tournament. But, recently Ian got a bad cold, and ended up spreading it to Caddy because he would turn to him every time he coughed so it would get on Caddy's nerves. Ian's plan worked in the annoyance side but, now they were getting closer to tournament and Ian and Caddy were sneezing and coughing up a storm. Jeff told Ian that him and Caddy wouldn't be allowed to come, to prevent any more spreading of the illness they shared. So now, they were forced to stay in the same room... Together... For a full night...
Ian sat down on a sofa in the middle of the room, the sofa making a creak. Out of the corner of his eye, Caddy's head turned from the position where he was facing the wall, to looking over at Ian. Immediately he shot up, Ian rolled his eyes. "Moosey!" He growled. That nickname made Ian's skin crawl. The nickname was cute, he actually liked it a little bit but, Caddy only used to to upset him. Ian associated the nickname with yelling and fighting so, he grew to hate it. Every time Caddy would use it casually, or even kindly, it made Ian uncomfortable, yet oddly happy. But, this wasn't one of those times.
Caddy stood up quickly, and opened his mouth to probably let out another spiel on why this is all his fault before he sputtered into a coughing fit. The only words he could force in between his hacking coughs were "dumbass" and "Moosey", and maybe a few other things that he couldn't quite make out. Ian ignored him for a long moment as he coughed. The second Caddy caught his breath and prepared to yell into Ian's ears, Ian sighed. "Sorry." He snapped quickly. Caddy wasn't buying it. "Why are you a-" Caddy started, before Ian cut him off. "I said I'm sorry James, seriously. I was just, fucking around and I didn't mean to actually get you sick. That wasn't what I was trying to do." Ian mumbled calmly. The guilt of getting Caddy sick was bothering him, and he let it all out. Right there. Caddy stood there, before opening his mouth to show his teeth bared with anger. "Well it sort of seemed like it. And, you can't even use my nickname when you apologize? I'm, I'm so fucking... Tired of your shit!" Caddy growled. Ian sighed, feeling much worst. He looked into Caddy's eyes, finally for the first time since he got there. "I'm sorry Caddy. I'm truly really sorry. Just because you think we are enemies, doesn't mean my apologies aren't... Sincere." Ian did some mouth-fishing to get that last word. The kind words made Ian feel uncomfortable, and looking at Caddy, it made him uncomfortable too. Caddy didn't speak, in fact he turned away and looked at the ground. "Thank you." Ian barely heard. The muffled voice was obviously Caddy, and the sincerity made him grin. Ian paused for a long time, Caddy just stood there, facing the other direction. Ian pulled out his phone and played on it, still keeping an eye on Caddy. Occasionally, the shorter boy would take a quick glance back at him. After a long, five minutes of silence and standing Ian sighed. "You can sit on the couch." He grumbled. Caddy quickly sat down, but on the arm of the sofa. Suddenly, Caddy was being so distant. He wasn't even speaking. Ian still stared at his phone, not looking up a single time after Caddy sat down. "What the hell are you doing?" Ian scoffed, just as he won the level on his game, turning his phone off to look over at Caddy. Caddy sniffled, head in his hands, completely covering his face. Ian continued to stare, but Caddy didn't reply. He sniffled again. Poor Caddy, each sniffle made Ian feel worst about what he did. Ian stood up and walked over to him, before putting his hand on Caddy's forehead to pull his head out of his hands. "Here, let me get you some medi-" Before he got the chance to finish his sentence, Ian froze. His whole body stung, and his heart was broken. The sight of Caddy, tears streaming down his face. Ian immediately panicked. "Oh my god... I'm sorry I, I'm sorry really I didn't mean to get you sick! I said I didn't mean it! I'm, I care about you I'm seriously really sorry!" Ian suddenly apologized profusely. Caddy began crying again, this time standing up and running to his bed to hide under the covers. His cries where hard, louder than most adults, and heartbreaking.
Ian frowned, suddenly staring at the wooden floors. He didn't know why Caddy's cries felt like watching someone kick baby kittens in the face but, it just did. Maybe because, Ian wasn't used to seeing Caddy sad. In fact, he had never seen him sad in his life! Caddy's cries finally softened. "Are you mad at me...?" Ian said softly, finally walking closer to the Caddy-shaped-heap on the bed. "Y-You were being sincere and I was being such a dick." Caddy cried, the little heap on the bed wiggled. Ian stood up. "Caddy, look. I don't care... I'm, not mad. I get it. You call us enemies and, all that shit. Whatever. I just, just because you think I'm your arch-nemesis... I'm not going to be a dick to you. I get it if you want to put on some fucking performance for everyone but... We are alone James. Treat me like a person." Ian, was being straight forward. He was telling it like it is. Ian was good at that, but he didn't have to do it that often.
Caddy breathed in slowly. "Okay... Yeah you, you're right. I was, mad. I thought you did it on purpose." He slurred, sniffling and uncovering himself. Ian saw the look on Caddy's face and his eyes fell. Ian sighed. "Your sad face is more depressing than a box of puppies left in the rain." Ian whined, covering his eyes. Caddy let out a sad laugh, his eyes burning from the crying he had done prior. His face was wet, and his cheeks and forehead were on fire. Caddy stared at Ian, unable to speak. He just smiled. Ian uncovered his eyes, and looked at Caddy again. The warm smile was the most genuine he had seen from Caddy, and his heart was set ablaze. He was so... Cute. No! Not cute. Ew... Uh... Whatever. He was, happy. And that made Ian, also happy. Ian smiled back at him, letting out a chuckle as they both stared at eachother. A few seconds pass, thoughts blurring by in their heads, as suddenly, a thought hit Ian in the head like a stone. They were literally sitting there, smiling and staring into each others eyes. Ian's smiled fell and his face heated up. Caddy, apparently realized the same thing, and suddenly turned away, face painted pink. "S-So! Uh, m-m-maybe we should sleep! We need sleep! Yeah! Night Moosey!" He squeaked and turned over, Ian stood, face blank. "I-I mean... Ian. Goon night Ian." Caddy corrected. Ian smiled warmly. "Good night to you too Caddy. Sleep well." He replied. This, had happened before. Every time they were left alone something like this happened.
Ian let out a breath and walked across the room to flick the light off. After he turned the light off, he walked over to the small couch. Ian sighed, annoyed that he would have to sleep on the couch. Ian's height was bound to make this a horrible night. And, Jimmy said Ian wasn't allowed to sleep in his bed. So, all he had was the- "You're too tall to sleep on the couch... These beds are pretty wide so..." Caddy's words were soft, and they filled Ian's heart up with something, strange. Joy? Maybe joy. Caddy was just... Fine! He was really cute! Like, impossibly cute. How hadn't he noticed it before? Ian brushed it off. "Yes I'll sleep with you Caddy." He chuckled. Caddy shot up, hitting his head on the bunk above him. In the dark, he couldn't see that well but, it was still pretty funny. "Ow... Don't make it sound weird I'm trying to be nice!" Caddy snapped. Ian sat in the bed, and he scooted over to give him room. Ian looked over at Caddy, both of them, looking at eachother in the dark again. Not as enemies but... Something else. Something that had potential. They stared at eachother for a while, the smiles plastered on their faces. Ian reached up a hand to put it on Caddy's shoulder, then onto his neck. Tension rised, as those happy warm eyes became more narrow, almost flirtatious. Slowly they leaned closer to eachother. They, were really about to kiss?! Did their eyes alone portray these things they were feeling?! Ian could feel Caddy's breath now, they were so close. His face was bright red. "C-Caddy I... I love y-" Ian was cut off by a door flinging open and the lights flicking on suddenly. "I will find that fucking game I know it's-" Wallid paused, looking at the two boys, with mouths just inches apart. The boys jerked away from eachother, and Ian looked away. Caddy tenses up. "Ian! Wh-What the fuck man!" He growled, and then gasped. "I mean Moosey! M-Moosey you fucking dick!" Caddy roared, and Ian noticed that Jimmy and Jeff were there too, and they had seen it all. Jimmy chuckled. "I knew it! See Jeff! I told you over and over and you didn't listen!" Jimmy announced proudly. Jeff was in awe, practically. "Wow, that is really surprising I... That's adorable." Jeff smiled. He was already supporting them and they hadn't even verbally admitted their feelings despite how, terribly obvious they were. Luke, couldn't even speak with how surprised he was. He stood there, mouth-agape. Wallid smirked. "Well go on, finish what you started." He said with a sly grin, and Ian looked over to see Caddy, calm. Caddy looked over, uncomfortable. Ian smiled widely. "They already saw what was going to happen, might as well just do it." Ian quickly said, grabbing Caddy and pulling him forward suddenly, closing the distance between their lips.
All Ian could remember was the thunderous applause and, falling asleep with Caddy snuggled next to him. What, a strange night. The next morning they promised to put on the act in public but, when they were alone... They would go back to how they really felt. Things were finally good for both of them. Caddy was happy, and so was Ian.
