‪12 Sep 2017.‬ We're going home, Sassenach. To Lallybroch. —#Outlander, Diana Gabaldon.‬ The exterior shots for #Lallybroch were filmed at #MidhopeCastle, although it's too derelict to go inside. It's become a sort of pilgrimage for Outlander fans—there were two tour groups hanging about as we rocked up. A couple of (slightly tipsy) ladies were calling out to Jamie. 7 Apr 2017. Would you rather visit filming locations for Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? My answer would obviously be Harry Potter, not just because I love the series but because the filming locations are associated with so many other books and movies as well. Everywhere you looked, you could picture a scene from another world. 11 Mar 2017. Favourite minor character? There are so many to choose from but no one has blown me away with a depiction of Australian characters quite like Paula Weston. Especially the Butler brothers. I'm so glad they got more than one appearance in The Rephaim because they actually make me cry with laughter. I really wish I could visit the Pandanus Beach in the books but it doesn't exist. There IS a Pandanus Beach not far from where I live, though, so I'm just going to keep pretending it's real. 2 Mar 2017. Happy #WorldBookDay20! Today is all about sharing a love of reading, especially with younger readers. Harry Potter is the book that got me into reading when I was eight years old, and when I finally got to visit England last year I was ugly crying all over the place at some of the Harry Potter inspiration and filming locations. One of my favourite things to do while travelling is visit places books are set, written or inspired by, for my project Paint the Town Read. This shot was taken at Gloucester Cathedral, where a lot of the Hogwarts corridor scenes were filmed in Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets. I watched the first episode of #Outlander on Monday night to see whether I should fast-track this book through my TBR pile and the answer is YES. I’m loving the story so far and I need more more more more more. Thank you to the beautiful @pardonmywritings for the #meetthebookstagrammer tag! 1. Where are you from? Brisbane, Australia. 2. When did you start your Bookstagram? September 2014, I think. Right before my trip to America. 3. Author or publisher? I would love to be an author but I'm also trained and work as an editor so working for a publisher is definitely possible. 4. Standalone or series junkie? At the moment, I love standalones because they're easier for me to get through. I do love a good series binge-read, though. 5. Biggest author inspiration? J.K. Rowling. She inspired me to read more and made me fall in love with writing. 6. Dream place to visit? I love visiting various literary locations for my #CAAPaintTheTownRead project! I got to spend some time in London last year but I want to head back, explore more and meet some of my fave UK Bookstagrammers! 7. Cats or dogs? Cats! 8. Favourite movie? I... help me. There are too many! I was really impressed with the adaptation of Catching Fire, and Moana is a new fave. 9. Biggest fear? Cane toads. 10. Which books would you like stranded with you on a desert island? Can I cheat and say a solar-powered e-reader? If not, probably Harry Potter because my love for that series is eternal.
