C4E010 Blood for Blood
Happy New Year, Critters! Some last 2025 data for you, covering Episode 10 of Campaign 4, including some nail-biting combat, several dramatically timed level-ups, four birds in the space of 12 seconds, and a familiar-feeling parable.
Outside of the Palazzo Davinos Circle of Death Occtis Murder Spectacular, our combat this episode was the most intense so far. In that episode (C4E004), PCs took a total of 159 points of damage; in C4E010, they took 144.
The numbers for this episode tell us multiple stories. Thimble came out on top with damage dealt and enemies slain (five of eleven!), Wicander took the most damage like a champ, and Kattigan tried his best.
Three of our five soldiers have leveled up from 3 to 4, with Wicander taking the Tough feat, Thimble taking the much-improved-in-2024 Durable feat, and Tyranny taking the Lucky feat. Stay tuned for character sheets and other level-up data; it’s coming!
As for the Lord Knight of House Seremai, he dealt 100 points of damage across five hits. He took 125 points before succumbing to his wounds—all but 32 dealt by Thimble, meaning in five hits of her own she dealt 93 damage. She dealt an incredible 42 of those points in a single hit thanks to Sneak Attack and a two-Death-Save-sacrificing Desperate Measures choice.
Of the damage dealt against Lord Seremai, 19 points were in the final hit (by Thimble), and we know thanks to Brennan that he had four hit points left, meaning the Lord Knight’s total hit points were 110.
The basilisk, meanwhile, took 62 points of damage, 13 of which were in the final hit (also by Thimble). Its total was somewhere between 62 and 50 hit points. This is in line with the 2024 stat block, which specifies 52 or 8d8 + 16 hit points.
Lastly for this combat, Wicander is now leading the pack in number of times KOed with a total of 3, two of which took place in this episode under 22 minutes apart. We think taking Tough was a very logical call.
And now for something completely different! We are kicking ourselves for not realizing that of COURSE Sam would have a more over-the-top and inconveniently-sized drinking vessel coming.
Our bird count went up by 4, all in the space of about 12 seconds during the cold open. Nice.
We also learned a Candescent Creed parable about a young girl named Beatrix. A rare artist’s rendering was unearthed on Amazon Prime, pictured below.
And, lastly: Dark Horse Wines. Studies show you will only roll 19 or higher on their dice.
Thanks for the wonderful year, we love you very much, and is it 2026 yet?
