i have a question. it's totally unrelated, i just want to know.
beau: are you in love with nott?
caleb: ...um, hm, no.
+ bonus
One more thing about Essek's willingness to share secrets. In C2e62, man taught Caleb up to three spell levels of dunamancy on a 12 persuasion check.
And yeah, I assume that's at least partly because of how down bad Essek was, but still.
Hot Boi likes to share and doesn't know when not to.
The information the Mighty Nein got from scrying on the blonde guy (Vence) and the fact that they turned this information of upcoming assualt to the Bright Queen immediately really is what got them a preponderant position within the Dynasty. Before, they were heroes from another world, strangers permitted to exist within this space, and to prove themselves. With this act, they prove themselves even more than a 100 secondary quests could have done, and they're trusted allies who will report to the right person, in the eyes of the Dynasty.
It's a tough choice, morally complex, and as Matt said "interesting information and dangerous information"... but ultimately, it's what made the Bright Queen listen to them when they later dared speak of peace.
When Caleb asked Essek back in episode 62 if the Lucid Bastion and Marble Tomes Conservatory were "the main avenues" for learning dunamancy, and Essek replied "they are the only avenues" and waiting a long pause before continuing "...why do you ask?
but the time in that pause was literally a full 5 seconds of them just staring at each other like this

Essek and Caleb ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Nein Again music for Episode 62: Domestic Respite under the cut! Most of the episode used a rather short playlist, but there were more songs later on.
At 11:15, Matt plays Gilneas from Hearthstone as he begins his recap of the previous episode. I've timestamped it in a compilation below.
At 14:20, Blood Moon from Hearthstone plays as Caduceus asks if they're planning to put down roots in Rosohna.
At about 15:45, Matt switches to Gilneas again while the Nein try to sort out their rooms.
At 17:30, The Grand Bazaar from World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth plays as they decide on Nott and Yeza's room.
At 23:10 and 26:10, Blood Moon repeats as the Nein carefully inspect the house for magic and assign more rooms.
At 29:10, Twisted Path from Hearthstone plays as Caduceus grows his tree on the roof of the Xhorhaus.
At 32:20, The Grand Bazaar repeats as Caduceus realizes he needs to find a way to get the tree some sunlight.
At 37:50, Gilneas repeats as Jester buys paints for murals rather than painting the whole house.
At 41:00, Blood Moon repeats as Jester paints a mural for Yasha and Yasha catches her.
At 44:00, Twisted Path repeats as Caduceus adds more to the house.
At 47:10, The Grand Bazaar repeats as Taliesin and Matt work out how to add daylight enchantments for the tree.
At 52:50, Gilneas repeats as the players work out the places Caleb can get them with Teleportation Circle.
At 56:00, Blood Moon repeats as Matt describes the neighborhood's reactions.
At 59:00, Twisted Path plays as Nott asks Jester to send to check in on Luc.
At 1:07:35 and 1:10:45, Gilneas replays as Caleb "has a few people [he] need[s] to corner" about updates, then corners Nott about the letter to Astrid.
At 1:14:00, Twisted Path repeats as the Pillow Trove innkeeper mentions that they have a second letter for Jester from the Soltryce Academy.
At 1:17:10, The Grand Bazaar repeats as Caleb tells Jester and Nott a little about his opinion of Astrid.
At 1:22:50, Gilneas repeats as Beau mentions she wants to talk to Dairon somehow before they run into her again.
At 1:28:45, Twisted Path repeats as Nott works on the tanglefoot bags and smoke bombs.
At 1:31:50, The Grand Bazaar replays as Nott and Yeza look at Jester's hair oil.
At 1:37:40, Gilneas repeats as Yasha inquires about enchanting her bracers at the Marble Tomes Observatory.
At 1:40:40, Blood Moon repeats as the Nein attempt to haggle for the enchantment.
At 1:43:45, Twisted Path repeats as the Nein return to the Xhorhaus.
At 1:46:45, The Grand Bazaar repeats as Essek explains the dens to the Nein.
At 1:52:20, Gilneas repeats as Essek summons his spellbook after Caleb's demonstration.
At 1:55:30, Blood Moon plays as Essek tries the "White Xhorhasian" drink.
At 1:58:30, Twisted Path plays as Caleb confronts Fjord about his accent.
I'm not sure what track Matt switched to for their conversation, but it's from the C1 playlist. I'll look around to see what I can find.
At 2:27:35, The Grand Bazaar replays as the break ends.
at 2:33:00 and 2:36:00, Gilneas plays as the Nein notice the effects of Jester's hair oil and Jester makes a home for Sprinkle.
At 2:38:35, Twisted Path plays as Sprinkle refuses to leave his new home.
At 2:41:25, The Grand Bazaar replays as Caleb suggests reaching out to Bryce about how to get Luc to Nicodranas.
At 2:47:15, Gilneas plays as the Nein float their options to reunite Yeza and Luc.
At 2:50:35, Blood Moon plays as Caleb insists on asking Essek for teleportation to Alfield.
At 2:53:25, Twisted Path plays as Matt reminds the players about the timeline for the Overcrow meeting.
At 2:56:30, The Grand Bazaar replays as Caduceus attempts to scry on Blondie after Jester's failure.
At 3:01:10, Matt finally switches to another playlist beginning with Whispers of the Old Gods from Hearthstone as Beau sneaks through the streets to the Overcrow.
I can't be sure of the starting time stamp because of the boistrous dialogue at the Overcrow, but I believe Jungle from Diablo II played in the background during Jester and Fjord's distraction.
Around 3:11:30, Rogue Encampment from Diablo II plays as Nott sneaks through the back room of the Overcrow.
At 3:15:25, Wilderness plays as the rummaging continues and through Marou's insistence that they leave and search for the intruder.
At about 3:23:30, Rogue Encampment repeats as the Nein examine the loot from the Overcrow.
Around 3:27:00, The Tomb of Sargeras from World of Warcraft: Legion plays as the Nein shop around for maps.
At 3:28:30, Cursed music from World of Warcraft plays as the Nein buys a map of Xhorhas from a general store. I've timestamped Cursed 7 in a compilation below.
At 3:39:00 or so, Crypt from Diablo II plays as the Nein discuss Jester's successful scry on Blondie.
At 3:48:55, Whispers of the Old Gods repeats as Caduceus notes that some things are just too big to get on top of, so it's better to be truthful.
At 3:50:15, Wilderness repeats as Nott yells out to see if Essek heard everything.
That's all for this week!
c2e62 is truly a comfort episode of all time. Just so much time sorting out the house, fighting over the rooms, the decorating, jester and yasha with the meadow painting, the tree and the hot tub, beau learning how to host just all of it, it's so domestic and I love it so much
