THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT UNSETTLED HER. though she was hesitant to admit the fact to just anyone. but there had always been something about haymitch. as infuriating as she sometimes found the man — katniss knew that she could look to him for advice. for guidance. even if he broke his promise. even if he hadn't gotten peeta out. taking a breath, the victor looked down at the boots of her district thirteen uniform. this all still felt like some surreal sort of dream. peeta should be here, not her. he was always so much better at this sort of stuff. “ and what if they're looking to the wrong person? ”

THINGS HAD BEEN WEIRD WITH JENNIFER. ever since that night of the fire, she had a different aura about her. call it kooky, it you want. but needy couldn't stop thinking that there was something off about her best friend. and she had listened to more than enough of her mother's daytime television to know that something was amiss. though she couldn't picture dragging her bestie to the likes some paranormal talk show host or even oprah herself for some insight.

jennifer was almost too nonchalant about everything happening in devil's kettle. it almost felt like, in a way, she was thriving as of late. “ i am not afraid, ” needy retorted, having half-listened to her friend's latest scheme. even if the other girl was scaring her lately. “ you know it takes a lot to freak me out, jen… but are you sure you're feeling okay? ”

IT WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS. where she was so lost in her thoughts, annie felt like she was struggling to breathe. constantly caught in the undertow of the games. today was especially hard, as it would have been her former district partner's birthday. a date that haunted her very year. a reminder that she was here and kai was long gone. and what had she gone, aside from stand by and watch him get killed?

anwen had been sitting at mags' kitchen table. staring at nothing in particular as the older dinner went about making dinner for herself and the two younger victors she'd practically adopted. hearing finnick's suggestion, the youngest of the bunch was quick to get to her feet. her fingers anxiously twirling the end of her loose fishtail braid. “ fresh air sounds nice, ” she agreed, already walking to the back door that led to the beach.

the hiding act may work if it weren't for the fact that robby was objectively taller than her. something that dana's not even bothering to mention as she feels the press of robby at her back as she watches gloria walk across the er. there's only so long that he can keep this gambit up for before the chief will lay her eyes on him. if she's feeling extra merciless, she could shove him away as not to implicate herself in his decision to hide. she's feeling nice today though so she allows him to take coverage behind her back.
