Lara stepped foot into the elevator, not noticing the woman who originally occupied the space. At least not initially. It was late, and there were few nights that she met anyone in this sleepy lobby. However, when she did, Lara offered a quaint smile.
The silver doors met in the middle, and the familiar feeling of being lifted further up followed. But then it didn’t. The room rattled before coming to an instant holt. “Jesus.” Lara stuck a leg further out to catch her balance while also holding onto the rail.
Her head swung to its side to get a look at the other woman, and as she got a look at her face the lights went out. “Are you alright?” Her body reluctantly stood up straight, protesting with a small shaking of Lara’s fingers. She fumbled her phone out of her back pocket. The space illuminated with light once more, but this time from the flashlight on her phone. “Shit.”
